About The Position

We are looking for an experienced production engineer to support diluent optimization initiatives. You will be responsible for production optimization efforts focused on maximizing asset value through integrated production surveillance, optimization, and well work opportunity evaluation in unconventional oil and gas assets in Cold Lake, Alberta. As part of the Cold Lake team, you will play a key role in advancing one of Canada's largest in-situ oil sands operations by optimizing diluent management. This position combines technical expertise, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional collaboration to unlock value across the asset. This position will be located at our ExxonMobil Campus in Spring, TX, and will ultimately serve as our diluent optimization lead for the Cold Lake, Alberta facilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS degree in Engineering required in Petroleum, Chemical, or Mechanical discipline
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Upstream oil & gas industry experience
  • Experience in fluid sampling and analysis
  • Experience in reservoir fluid property analysis
  • Skilled in data management, quality control, and presentation
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team with other disciplines, including operations, SSHE, regulatory, permitting, accounting, reservoir, wells, facilities and land
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills to enable effective team collaboration and upline stewardship
  • Ability to lead and facilitate meetings and group discussions
  • Ability to travel occasionally to Cold Lake, Alberta
  • Intermediate + advanced experience with Power BI, Tableau, and Pipeline Coating

Responsibilities

  • Surveillance and reporting of injected and reproduced diluent
  • Surveillance of process performance
  • Funding actions and investment reappraisals
  • Regular stewardship to management on business results
  • Manage databases and dashboards to support quick business insights built on sound data
  • Inputs into accounting processes
  • Alignment with Development team on future opportunities
  • Reproduce Diluent analysis – pad vs plant methodologies, samples vs density models, evolution of techniques to improve estimates
  • Analysis of diluent processes in the reservoir
  • Trial alternatives
  • External interface with industry consortia and other operators
