Naval Shipboard Missile Systems, a portfolio under the Shipboard Missiles SSBU, is seeking a highly motivated candidate to serve as Production Director for the Standard Missile‑6 (SM‑6) FY27+ Multi‑Year Program. Reporting to the Sr. Director, NSMS Production, the Production Director is responsible for leading proposal development and execution of the FY27+ multi‑year contract. This leader will drive implementation of the production plan required to transition the SM6 program to a new configuration and ramp throughput from approximately 120 missiles per year to 500 per year by 2030. The Production Director will interface with the Execution Director (FY19–26), the Production Growth Director, and the Development Director to ensure alignment across configuration delivery, non‑recurring capacity expansion, producibility improvements, and industrial base readiness. The role requires demonstrated proficiency in leading strong cross‑functional teams, managing large and complex production programs, communicating program goals and decisions, and delivering results to the team, customers, and business leadership. Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 14 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years’ experience
  • Prior experience executing large‑scale production programs, including factory readiness, supplier readiness, and configuration transitions
  • Prior experience leading cross‑functional teams across engineering, operations, contracts, finance, and supply chain
  • Prior experience with Risk & Opportunity Management and Earned Value Management
  • Prior experience with rate‑ramp planning, industrial base growth, and producibility improvement
  • Prior experience managing program financials, including EACs, AOP, and profit and loss
  • Prior experience working with and supporting customer and internal stakeholder engagement
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Secret - Current Security Clearance Status: Active and existing security clearance required on day 1

Nice To Haves

  • Raytheon Program Management Certification Level 3 Certification or ability to obtain within a year
  • Demonstrated program execution experience managing program staffing, assignments and resources
  • Working knowledge of contract formation, execution, and management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with NSMS directorates to ensure successful transition to production of a new configuration, increase throughput to newly established capacity and cut in of obsolescence & producibility updates
  • Set program priorities, resolve conflicts and barriers, implement gates and lead major reviews with the customer
  • Coordinate and align interactions, dependencies, and transactions between customers and other performing parties to execute the production plan required to grow throughput from 120/yr to 500/yr by 2030
  • Manage profit and loss, Annual Operating Plan (AOP) development and execution, and program Estimate at Completions (EACs)
  • Lead proposal development for the FY27+ multi‑year production program
  • Define program tasking and milestones; monitor adherence to cost, schedule, technical performance, and factory/supplier readiness
  • Champion program management best practices for production execution
  • Coordinate and align interactions among customers, suppliers, and internal performing organizations
  • Lead change management activities, including proposing and implementing constructive changes
