About The Position

The Production Director coordinates the efforts of all technical operators during newscasts and other live and recorded productions. This role involves directing live, fast-paced local newscasts using production automation, graphics systems, and playout software. The Production Director will supervise on-air talent, technicians, and floor directors, demonstrating in-depth knowledge of studio/remote broadcasting technology. Collaboration with newscast producers is key to creating and executing content, tone, structure, and pace, while also contributing creative ideas to enhance the final product. The position requires the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Coordination with News and Creative Services Departments is necessary to achieve the graphic elements of the newscast.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience Directing.
• News applicants only.
• Must be able to handle face paced live broadcasts and remain calm during breaking news.
• Candidate should be a problem solver and quick thinker to resolve existing issues and to work around problems that arise during live news.
• Must have strong communication skills, oral and written.
• Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of studio/remote broadcasting technology including automated servers, graphics systems, and editing.

Nice To Haves

• ENPS and Sony ELC experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field preferred.
• Early Mornings, Evenings, weekends, and holidays will be a part of the schedule.

Responsibilities

• Supervises on-air talent, technicians, and floor directors.
• Collaborates with newscast producers to create & execute the content, tone, structure and pace of the newscast.
• Contributes creativity and ideas that enhance the final product.
• Meets deadlines, prioritizes assignments and handles multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Coordinates with the News and Creative Services Departments to achieve the graphic elements of the newscast.
