About The Position

Checkmark is the in-house creative resource of this client. As a Graphic Design Technician, you will produce digital files for printing accurately and on time. You will be able to prioritize work appropriately, accurately account for time and alert the correct parties immediately if a deadline is in jeopardy. As a critical and central member of the team, you are able to work successfully with the creative team, your project manager and the lead senior production designer.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of Mac OS.
  • Skilled with Indesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of advanced key commands, paragraph formatting, typography, style sheets, tab fields.
  • Proper digital file management/archiving.
  • Knowledgeable in Illustrator that is the most appropriate for specific project.
  • Knowledgeable in Photoshop, including ability to color correct and retouch photos.
  • Knowledgeable in color/pre-press requirements for flexo and offset printing.
  • Comfortable with troubleshooting, including recognizing and solving common system problems, data recovery techniques, and network management.
  • Work as a team with Creative and Production Services to seek out appropriate information for completion of projects on time.
  • Prioritize work appropriately.
  • Accurately account for time and alert project manager immediately if project will exceed original timeframe.
  • At least 5 years in Mac Digital Production.
  • Thorough knowledge of the following programs: Illustrator, Indesgn and Photoshop.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Sketch and Keynote a plus.
  • Experience with packaging die-vinyls strongly preferred.
  • A congenial personality as pertains to working closely with others a definite plus.
  • An enthusiastic approach a must.

Responsibilities

  • Produce digital files for printing accurately and on time.
  • Prioritize work appropriately and accurately account for time.
  • Alert the correct parties immediately if a deadline is in jeopardy.
  • Work successfully with the creative team, project manager, and lead senior production designer.
  • Ensure proper use of trademarks and logos.
  • Meet legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all files meet AFFCO/NASC standards for quality.
  • Meet internal standards of good typography: proper hyphenation, kerning, line breaks, legibility.
  • Use accurate sizes and specifications throughout.
  • Route all projects to Proofreader before presentation to review group.
  • Construct digital files in the most memory-efficient manner.
  • Ensure digital files are accurate and error-free.
  • Collaborate and be self-sufficient with a problem-solving, proactive attitude.
  • Manage digital files and archiving properly.
  • Perform design variations based on key artwork.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
