About The Position

SC Steel, LLC was established January 2, 2018, as a subsidiary of Fab South and acquired the assets of SMI-Owen Steel Company, Inc. on April 1, 2018. SMI-Owen Steel Company had owned the business since 1994 when they acquired it from South Carolina Steel Company. The Upstate South Carolina facility has been in operation at this location since 1952. Creates Production Cut lists for Pre-Assembly & the Shops to ensure a quality product is produced safely, efficiently according to schedule in the most cost-effective manner. Maintains strong, accurate and up-to-date communications between Production, Inventory Purchasing, and Inventory Receiving to meet project requirements and delivery schedules. Identifies and resolves issues with printed production documentation particularly Cut Lists and Shop Tickets. Works to continuously improve the execution of responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to read and interpret structural design drawings and structural fabrication and erection drawings.
  • Working knowledge of computers and computer software, including Microsoft Office applications

Responsibilities

  • Based upon the Production Priority List, Production Schedules, and Inventory availability, generate Cut Lists and verify Shop Tickets.
  • Generate Cut Lists for main members so complete batches are available for fabrication with enough lead time to meet shipping objectives.
  • Create a Cut List batching strategy by Project to maintain production schedules at least two weeks in advance.
  • Work with Procurement and Pre-Assembly personnel to identify and implement solutions to reduce non-value-added activities and implement lean operating principles within Pre-Assembly.
  • When generating Cut lists, utilize the most efficient inventory lengths to reduce Drop/Scrap.
  • Work within Tekla and Teams Software to update the Priority List Schedule with information vital for achieving production due dates.
  • Provide information to Procurement, Pre-Assembly, and Production supervisors.
  • Identify potential constraints for Production.
  • Identify inventory deficiencies and work with Procurement to determine best way to resolve inventory deficiencies in to meet Production timelines.
  • Assist with Monthly Inventory Sweeps/Cycle Counts and Year-End Inventory.
  • Assist with scanning inventory and unloading inventory as needed.
  • Ensure that Cut Lists are complete and accurate.
  • Raise issues and concerning related to the coordination of creating Cut Lists and verifying Shop Tickets.
  • Work with Procurement and Production Team members to resolve issues in a timely manner as not to miss production timelines.
  • Identify inventory deficiencies the prevent the generation of Cut lists and/or prevent the execution of Shop Tickets.
  • Troubleshoot and determine root cause for the inventory deficiencies.
  • Work with Procurement Manager and Inventory Manager to resolve inventory deficiencies.
  • Perform general administrative duties to support above responsibilities.
  • Act as a backup to members of the Procurement Team.
  • Any other duties that may become necessary.
