About The Position

Takes the lead role, under minimal supervision in performing work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient, and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. This role involves enforcing safety rules and procedures, assisting in accident investigations, conducting job briefings, and ensuring compliance with AEP Clearance Permit System. The Production Coordinator Sr. will coordinate work activities of others, collaborate on complex problems unique to the electric utility industry, and demonstrate working knowledge of AEP policies and procedures. They will develop and implement plans for scheduling, resource allocation, and cost control, and lead meetings to ensure effective communication. The role requires making independent technical decisions based on calculated risks, promoting continuous improvement, and participating in meetings covering outage/project schedules, safety, and operations. Building rapport with business partners and customers, managing conflict, and presenting reports are also key functions. The position involves providing training and performance improvements for lower-level employees and becoming familiar with computer programs like Work Management System/Maximo, Microsoft tools, and scheduling tools. The role will supervise contractor turbine millwright crews.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of experience in work activities and projects requiring technical knowledge in planning, construction, or maintenance of systems and/or equipment.
  • OR Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited university or college, plus 1 yr. related work experience
  • OR Associate's Technical degree, plus 3 yrs. related work experience

  • Ability to interface and work well with different levels of individual contributors and management is required.

  • Position requires working outside in all types of weather and exposure to hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce safety rules and procedures to assure safe work behaviors including an HPI advocate.
  • Assist in investigating accidents, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Conduct thorough job briefings assuring Job Safety Analysis (JSA) specifies work scope, identifies potential hazards, and mitigates hazards.
  • Be knowledgeable and comply with the AEP Clearance Permit System and Plant Clearance Appendices.
  • Coordinate work activities of others within work groups, teams or those located externally to AEP including contractors, craft personnel, and vendors as required to resolve routine technical tasks and field work activities.
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders in identifying, resolving, and initiating solutions to highly complex problems that are unique to AEP and the electric utility industry. Including skills requiring specialized knowledge of equipment and/or problem-solving techniques.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of AEP policies, procedures, and guidelines to monitor and ensure work is performed in accordance.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement plans including scheduling, resource allocation, and cost information to control and address project outcome.
  • Understand the use of scheduling techniques for budgeting, planning activities and project execution.
  • Lead and facilitate meetings to ensure effective communication around project status, safety, schedule, etc.
  • Independently make technical decisions based on calculated risks.
  • Promote Continuous Improvement, business metric utilization, and strategic forecasting.
  • Participate in AEP and associated Contractor's meetings covering outage/project schedule, safety issues and operations and maintenance of equipment.
  • Develop and maintain rapport to assure cooperation and productive working relationships with Business Partners and customers.
  • Effectively manage conflict and build consensus for agreement concerning business and/or work issues.
  • Clearly and concisely develop and present or review reports with business partners and customers as needed.
  • Participate in providing training, performance improvements for projects and activities of lower-level employees or peers.
  • Become familiar with computer programs (Work Management System/Maximo, Microsoft tools, and scheduling tools).
  • Supervise contractor turbine millwright crews.
