This position reports to the Materials Manager and has 3-5 direct reports. The role is responsible for directing departmental activities to meet or exceed profit objectives. This includes developing and managing the shipping and material requirements forecast, master production schedule, long-range material requirements plan, and long and short-range capacity plans. The supervisor will manage the scheduling of incoming customer sales orders, monitor and report on customer backlogs, and coordinate activities between production control, manufacturing, commercial channel, traffic, and shipping. They will also serve as a liaison between sales and production control on schedule changes and special handling of critical sales orders. The role manages and directs the scheduler and dispatch functions, including the preparation and coordination of shop floor schedules. Additionally, the supervisor will monitor employee performance, ensure safety policies are followed, define and monitor production standards, ensure the integrity of the production schedule, promote continuous productivity improvement, administer company policies, train new employees, and prepare various reports.
