About The Position

The Production Control Planner is responsible for coordinating and managing the front-end flow of production within our critical bolting manufacturing environment. This role serves as a key link between sales, engineering, and the shop floor - ensuring that customer orders are accurately translated into executable work orders, master routers are correctly generated, and production schedules are maintained to meet delivery commitments. The ideal candidate brings a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, strong ERP proficiency, and the communication skills to collaborate effectively across departments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing production control, planning, or scheduling role
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems (experience with MRP/production modules required)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to fastener or precision metal component production
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical certification preferred
  • Experience in critical bolting, fastener manufacturing, or related precision manufacturing industry
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as ASTM, ASME, SAE, or ISO bolting specifications
  • Experience with routing and SOM management within an ERP environment

Responsibilities

  • Review incoming sales order contracts for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability
  • Verify order specifications align with engineering drawings, material requirements, and applicable standards (e.g., ASTM, SAE, ISO)
  • Identify and communicate discrepancies or conflicts between customer requirements and production capabilities
  • Coordinate with Sales and Engineering to resolve order clarifications prior to release
  • Create and maintain master routers that define the step-by-step manufacturing sequence for bolting products
  • Ensure routers accurately reflect all required operations, including threading, heat treatment, plating, and inspection checkpoints
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to validate routing accuracy for new or modified part numbers
  • Update and revise routers as process changes are implemented or customer specifications are updated
  • Assist with the release and tracking of work orders through the ERP system in accordance with production schedules
  • Monitor open work orders for status, completeness, and on-time progression through the shop floor
  • Coordinate with production supervisors to address scheduling conflicts, capacity constraints, or material shortages
  • Ensure work order documentation (travelers, routers, inspection records) is complete and accurate at the time of release
  • Maintain accurate data within the ERP system, including item masters and routing records
  • Generate and distribute production reports, schedule status updates, and backlog analyses as required
  • Identify and escalate data integrity issues that could impact production planning or customer commitments
  • Serve as a communication bridge between Production Control, Sales, Engineering, Quality, and the shop floor
  • Participate in daily/weekly production meetings and provide status updates on order progress
  • Support customer service inquiries related to order status and delivery timelines
