About The Position

The Production Chemist I supports the production of licensed and unlicensed reagents, and other liquid products for the Cell Culture department. Working under the guidance of the Manufacturing Manager, Supervisor, and/or Lead Technician, this role performs daily manufacturing operations with an emphasis on cell culture techniques, process compliance, and product quality.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to work well in a group setting as well as independenty.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of technical instructions.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to indentify instrument malfunctions and perform equipment troubleshooting.
Ablity to work with Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

Experience in cGMP, ISO and/or FDA compliance is a plus
Experience in cell culture techniques is a plus

Responsibilities

Follows applicable laboratory SOPs, GMP regulations, and applicable laboratory OSHA regulations with respect to chemical hazards, blood-borne pathogens, etc.
Performs production of proteins using sterile technique in a biosafety cabinet.
Performs microscopic exams and automated cell counts.
Performs maintenance of the lab including recording temperatures, cleaning, equipment maintenance, and disposal of contaminated waste.
Entry of time, materials, creation of production orders into ERP systems.
Follow and promote all safety measures required by Werfen.
Aids in troubleshooting problems which occur in the production flow.
Maintains departmental inventory.
Understands scientific concepts related to products manufactured.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
