About The Position

This role involves participating in food production for multiple food programs, adhering to standardized recipes, and completing assigned production schedules. The Production Chef will work with a variety of food products, practice FIFO procedures, and collaborate with peers in various workspaces. The position also includes making recommendations for improvements in food handling and production, adhering to safe food handling procedures, maintaining sanitary conditions in cooking and storage areas, and assisting with receiving goods. Individuals may be responsible for opening and/or closing procedures.

Requirements

  • 2-year certified culinary program or 2 years of experience in the field or a combination of
  • Working knowledge of natural, organic, vegetarian and other specialty cuisines, with understanding of various dietary restrictions.
  • Experience cooking recipes for customers with dietary restrictions.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands.
  • Well organized and pays attention to detail.
  • Communications skills: good listener, gives clear instructions.
  • Regular, predictable attendance.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in food production for the department’s multiple food programs.
  • Practice the highest standards of knife skills.
  • Follow standardized recipes as written to produce consistent results of product.
  • Complete the assigned production schedule within the allotted time frame.
  • Work with any and all products required to satisfy the production list as directed including meats, fish, poultry, vegetables, fruits, dairy, nuts and grains.
  • Understand and practice standard FIFO procedures.
  • Work with peers in a variety of workspaces and conditions.
  • Make recommendations for improvements in all phases of food handling and production.
  • Adhere to safe food handling procedures in the kitchen, walk-in and waste management areas.
  • Ensure all cooking and food storage areas are maintained in sanitary, orderly condition.
  • Assist in receiving goods for the department when necessary following appropriate guidelines.
  • Be responsible for opening and/or closing procedures as assigned.
