About The Position

Produce composite laminates to be used in the production of advanced aerospace composite laminate for various applications such as sails, medical devices, and outdoor products. This role involves setting up, operating, adjusting, and cleaning all necessary equipment to produce products according to work instructions and standard operating procedures. Responsibilities include taking samples to determine product properties, maintaining records of raw materials and finished goods, inspecting and packing finished products, and managing inventory of raw, intermediate, and finished products. The position also requires assisting in the training and guidance of other team members and involves exposure to hazardous conditions and contaminants.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in a fibers production environment and/or equivalent military technical experience or training.
  • Knowledge of appropriate safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of changeovers/cleaning/set-up, work instructions
  • Ability to perform mathematical computation; problem solving.
  • Problem solving/troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Show behavior in line with the SHE and Security risks and agreed controls, including being compliant to Avient requirements, rules, and procedures.
  • Assures that all employees follow established occupational safety rules, housekeeping, Hazmat regulations, JSAs and SOPs.
  • Address and report person(s) behaving in a SHE and Security irresponsible manner and document observed risks.
  • Abides by an enforced Avient procedures/policies regarding security, inclusive of: employee security agreement; use of non-disclosure agreements with outside parties; control of intellectual property limited to a “need to know” only basis; no unauthorized use of cell phones, camera, computers or Avient property; reporting security threats and incidents; proper control of Avient property and keys.
  • Set up, operate, adjust and clean all equipment required to produce CT products in accordance to work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining quality product.
  • Take samples and determines properties of the produced intermediate and finished products.
  • Prepares samples for offline quality checks.
  • Supply and maintain inventory of components/supplies as needed.
  • Correct process conditions with given limits, to maintain desired quality.
  • Communicate any issue related to the product to Shift Lead/Shift Supervisor.
  • Performs minor preventative maintenance.
  • Abides by Avient Protective Materials procedures/policies regarding security, inclusive of: employee security agreements; use of non-disclosure agreements with outside parties; control of Avient Dyneema CT intellectual property limited to a “need to know” only basis; no unauthorized use of cell phones, cameras, computers or Avient property; reporting security threats and incidents; proper control of Avient property and keys.
  • Inspects and pack finished product.
  • Performs in-process quality checks as required.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to quality by ensuring all product documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Responsible for compliance with relevant laws, regulatory requirements, recipes, SOP’s, and other related documentation and activities.
  • Ensures Company guidelines related to company policies relating to quality, safety, housekeeping and cost effectiveness are met.
  • Maintain records of the used raw materials and the produced products in the appropriate computer system.
  • Enters data about components, intermediate and finished products into the tracing and tracking system.
  • Maintain accurate production related records.
  • Move, measure, maintain inventory and store raw, intermediate and finished products.
  • Receives, stores, handles and delivers raw materials and finished products as required or directed.
  • Utilize standard material handling equipment.
  • Operate rider and/or walk for truck and overhead crane.
  • Utilize good judgment in making critical decisions on product quality, equipment functionality, safety and other related activities.
  • Identifies problems related to equipment, work orders, log books, set-ups and other related activities and recommends ways to solve.
  • Makes suggestions regarding product quality, safety precautions, and work improvements.
  • Inform Lead of any problems that may impair the quality of the CT product, packaging components, work efficiency and/or safety.
  • Participates in Near Miss investigations, setting up RCA and JSA.
  • Participates in SHE, Quality or other special task teams if business requires.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • This position involves work with (supervision of) and/or handling hazardous materials and waste at the APM work site.
  • Worker has the appropriate qualifications to read, understand, apply and communicate written and verbal information regarding handling and managing hazardous wastes.
  • Training is required within six months of worker assuming duty, and once a year thereafter.
  • Worker is responsible for proper handling, documentation, inspection and transporting around the facility of hazardous wastes.
  • Worker may also be responsible for responding to emergencies involving hazardous waste.
