This role is for a Retort Production Associate in Glen, MS. The associate utilizes considerable judgment and provides leadership when managing retort operations, reporting requirements, and maintenance needs. The goal is to maintain and improve the system to meet or exceed all required operations and product specifications, including production rates, product quality, safety, and environmental standards. The role contributes to the plant’s team-based environment, ensuring compliance with and contributing to safety and environmental guidelines and practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Eligible for legal employment in the U.S.
  • Medium level of computer efficiency skills, including Word, Excel, Power Point.
  • Ability to use hand tools in all aspects of maintenance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn skills such as welding, cutting, pipe threading, heavy equipment operations, electrical troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrates ability to achieve results and meet deadlines with minimal direction.
  • Effective time management and ability to multitask.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Dozer and perform work in transporting Hog fuel (wood bark and chips) around the Hog fuel pile, including scraping and dozing loose material and cutting roads of compacted material throughout the pile.
  • Effectively operate the hog fuel unloading system, including truck dump, walking floor trailer, and sizing and grinding system.
  • Manage receipt, transport, and storage of raw materials to ensure compliance with plant environmental and safety requirements.
  • Safely and efficiently operate a front-end loader and Dozer to transport raw materials to storage silos or sheds.
  • Manage pile rotation as needed to ensure material viability and adherence to "one right way" principles, and participate in the Dozer captain rotational process.
  • Control the operation of the Retort and its ancillary equipment using an electronic control system, physical equipment inspection, and material attribute testing to produce Char material that meets defined quality specifications.
  • Continuously monitor and operate the entire system by observing and controlling various interfaces using PLC controls, observing emissions, and using Excel to record process and environmental variables, and analyzing Hog fuel and Char moisture.
  • Regularly obtain, label, and deliver samples of raw materials per procedural guidelines for testing and analysis by QA.
  • Communicate closely with the Dozer Operator to maintain consistent process feed.
  • Work with other Retort and plant personnel on actions needed to clear process jams and correct equipment malfunctions.
  • Enter production, labor, and loss data into SAP.
  • Control total system start-up and shutdowns.
  • Perform equipment maintenance, troubleshoot, and make minor repairs on all department rolling stock and operating equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to maintain equipment in base condition.
