About The Position

Leggett & Platt Inc. is seeking a Production Associate to join their Manufacturing team. The company is a leading designer and manufacturer of seating support and comfort systems for the automotive industry, recognized for its quality and innovation. The Production Associate will be responsible for setting up and controlling the operation of single or multiple production machines to manufacture products. This role involves operating an extruder machine that processes plastic into solid profiles for automotive, furniture, and bedding components. Additionally, the associate will operate a Grids machine and ensure all work conforms to environmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Basic math skills.
• Some mechanical skills.
• Ability to use measuring tools.
• Ability to understand and follow simple blueprints.
• Commitment to 100% quality, continuous quality improvement, safety, and good housekeeping.
• Ability to lift 70 lb and/or move 1,000 lb of equipment on wheels, if required.
• Ability to work in teams on continuous improvement projects.
• Maintain a good attendance record.
• Willingness to learn.
• Sufficient dexterity and mechanical understanding to operate an automated machine.
• Ability to understand instructions both verbal and written.
• Ability to follow construction blueprints and document ongoing processes with proper training.
• Sufficient aptitude to identify proper product quality.
• Willingness to be involved in ongoing skills improvement classes and efforts (IATF-16949/ISO-9001:2015, Kaizen, and SMED).

Responsibilities

• Set up and control operation of single or multiple production machines.
• Operate an extruder machine to process plastic into solid profiles.
• Place finished rolls or containers on shipping containers.
• Produce quality product and identify any quality issues.
• Notify appropriate personnel to fix machine issues.
• Operate the Grids machine.
• Adhere to environmental policy and procedures and the requirements of the environmental management system.
