About The Position

This is an entry-level manufacturing position at Spartech’s Stamford, Connecticut facility, primarily responsible for weigh-up or packaging duties in the production department. The Production Associate helps ensure product quality, cost efficiency, customer-specification compliance, and on-time delivery in accordance with company policies and procedures. The role is for second- or third-shift work and requires a full workweek, with overtime as needed.

Requirements

• Able to read and understand shop orders.
• Able to work a full schedule workweek and fulfill overtime requirements as needed.

Responsibilities

• Use safe work habits and help maintain a safe workplace.
• Assist the operator with loading and unloading the slitter and during changeovers.
• Inspect finished rolls, vacuum visible dust, and check for nonconforming characteristics such as angel hair, loose rolls, roll weave, or bad cuts.
• Read and understand shop orders, and communicate with the operator and shift lead.
• Clean equipment and the plant.
• Stage rolls and other packaging materials needed for production.
• Enter inventory moves into the MIS accurately and promptly.
• Remove, weigh, and properly package material from slitters, then move it to the designated warehouse area.
• Record daily total downtime using reason codes.
• Operate forklifts as required, including changing batteries and performing general maintenance as required.
• Perform SQC and quality testing, and cross-check paperwork and material labeling.
• Cut cores/cardboard to the sizes stated on work orders.
• Follow additional direction from the operator.
• Work a full scheduled workweek and fulfill overtime requirements as needed.
