About The Position

Under the supervision of the Area Manager/ Team Leader, the Production Associate is responsible for the essential functions and job qualifications requirements such as proper training and safe, timely, and efficient operation of general production equipment. This role involves operating various production machines, maintaining quality standards, and adhering to safety regulations. The associate will also be involved in process improvement, accurate documentation, and training new team members.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or the equivalent preferred.
  • Mig Weld certification per classroom training, written test and coupon samples (for Mig Welders).
  • Ability to stand on the concrete floor for the duration of the work shift.
  • Ability to walk, push, pull, reach overhead, bend to the floor, and use arms and hands.
  • Visual precision for inspecting parts and reading documents/gauges.
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and repetitively lift up to 35 pounds from and to a height of 10-56 inches for the work shift (Team Member/Production).
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds from and to a height of 10-56 inches up to one time a minute for the work shift (Trailer Hitch / Mig Weld Team Member).
  • Ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force repetitively from and to a height of 10-56 inches up to four times a minute for the work shift (Balance of Team Members Including Containment Area).
  • Ability to exert up to 55 pounds of force occasionally, from and to a height of 10-56 inches (Balance of Team Members Including Containment Area).

Responsibilities

  • Operate production equipment including Roll Mill, Prog Operator, Press Operator, Arc Welding Machine Operator, Resistance Welding Operator, Automatic Welding Machine Operator, and CNC Benders.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area with good housekeeping techniques.
  • Produce quality parts that meet all customer requirements.
  • Cease production if parts do not meet quality standards, with approval from management.
  • Participate in process improvement teams.
  • Follow operator instruction sheets unless otherwise directed.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and report any safety concerns.
  • Report all mishits to the Team Leader/Area Manager.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately, including tags, setup check lists, Production Logs/Flip Charts & production reports.
  • Ensure last piece samples have been submitted before starting the next order.
  • Properly use the Plex system for production reporting and/or job training requirements.
  • Follow all quality procedures.
  • Ensure containers are not damaged and are clean of old tags, cardboard, and other parts before use.
  • Verify the proper use of standard packs when set up for work orders.
  • Train new associates as directed by supervisor.
  • Follow the “first-in, first out” system of using raw materials.
  • Complete all requirements to satisfy the First Piece Inspection Process.
  • Operate robots, use machine lifts, and inspect/repair parts to required specifications (Mig Welders).
  • Run equipment, review part quality, and make machine adjustments (Bender operators).
  • Participate in die sets and part adjustments for quality purposes (Roll Mill).
  • Participate in die sets, setting machine parameters, and troubleshooting equipment including dies (Prog Operators).
  • Perform die sets, adjust machines to parameters, and troubleshoot equipment (Transfer Press Operators).
  • Participate in die sets, coil alignment, setting machine parameters, and troubleshooting equipment (Shearline Operators).
  • Perform other essential functions as assigned.
