About The Position

Airgas is hiring a Production Associate (Cylinder Filler) in Cheshire, CT. This role is responsible for safely handling and filling gas products into liquid, medical, and high-pressure gas cylinders in compliance with regulations and company procedures. The associate will review cylinders before filling, conduct safety checks, analyze products for purity, prepare and fill cylinders, and assist with loading/unloading. Accurate record-keeping according to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards is essential. The role requires knowledge of gas hazards and cylinder labeling.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent.
  • Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures which are applicable to this position's responsibilities.
  • A minimum of 1 year of related technical experience. In lieu of specific industry experience, may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience utilizing SAP or similar ERP system preferred.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Safely handle and fill gas products into liquid, medical, and high-pressure gas cylinders.
  • Ensure cylinders meet government, Airgas, and distributor standards before filling.
  • Conduct safety checks, including odor tests and valve inspections.
  • Analyze products for purity and correct mixtures.
  • Prepare high-pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling.
  • Attach to manifold and evacuate cylinders to ensure quality and purity.
  • Fill cylinders by pressure and weight according to regulations and standards.
  • Assist with loading and unloading cylinders.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records according to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards.
  • Complete quality control sheets.
  • Identify hazards of various gases and cylinder contents by reading labels and color-coding.
  • Support accurate labeling of cylinders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
