About The Position

UAW: Production Assistant II is responsible for the assembly and framework of each unit. This process is the first step in building a unit.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read and use measuring tape.
  • Be able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical engineering documents provided.
  • Be able to read, comprehend, and follow written work instructions and plans.
  • Operate Windows and OS2 computers and mobile devices and use the appropriate authorized business applications, including PYRO and Outlook.
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with work schedule and assignments to meet production demand.
  • Demonstrate a constant awareness of safety issues, use equipment correctly, and immediately report any hazardous conditions or unsafe behaviors to the appropriate Supervisor or Group Lead.
  • Maintain all required training, qualifications, and certifications as required. Include, but not be limited to, required Environmental, Health, and Safety Training, Job Training Qualifications, and additional technical or skill-specific Certifications as outlined in the appropriate Work Center Work Instructions.
  • Requires some physical ability, such as moderate lifting, etc.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and prepare the aluminum (skins) to be mounted on the unit's frame (skeleton).
  • Use simple hand tools such as drills, pop rivet guns, clamps, measuring tape, etc.
  • Clean and prepare the unit's surfaces using AP1-11.
  • Utilizing highly adhesive mounting tapes.
  • Train and qualify to operate a sizeable overhead crane for positioning and relocating partial and completed units.
  • Prepare units for painting.
