About The Position

The Opportunity: CACI is looking for a technician who can serve as a skilled technical specialist to build, align and test high precision Electro-Optical and mechanical systems in support of production Space/Satellite programs and aid engineers in the development of test and alignment fixtures and tools.

Requirements

  • Three years experience building and testing custom, complex high precision electro optical assemblies.
  • Fiber optic splicing processes and equipment, including arc fusion splicers, cleavers, and re-coaters.
  • Use of optical sources, power meters, and optical spectrum analyzers to test optical components.
  • General understanding of how to follow detailed work instructions and record required information in Travelers for traceability
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience or Secondary/Associates Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Work is typically performed in a Cleanroom environment (ISO Class 7) which requires proper safety precautions.
  • Ability to use your hands in a skillful, coordinated way to grasp and manipulate objects and demonstrate small, precise movements.
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions or test procedures
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment and handle changing priorities.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks/skills.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen, preferred.
  • Hand soldering in compliance to J-STD-0001 space addendum a plus
  • Familiarity or experience with schematic capture design tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate subassemblies and perform integration of subassemblies with electrical, optical and mechanical components for production units
  • Independently follow detailed, pre-approved work instructions and test procedures and record detailed test data in Travelers
  • Support requests for parts, materials and equipment required for assembly and testing of subassemblies.
  • Ensure that all tools, equipment, and consumables are within calibration and expiration dates.
  • Maintain detailed records of assembly processes, testing results, and any modifications made.
  • Create comprehensive documentation outlining assembly procedures and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Inspect products, materials, or components to identify defects or deviations from quality standards.
  • Use various tools and techniques for inspection, such as calipers, gauges, and testing equipment.
  • Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to provide feedback on design improvements and manufacturing processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
