About The Position

Harmar manufactures wheelchair lifts for automobiles, stair lifts for the home, and residential and commercial vertical platform lifts. They sell to dealers and the government, with the ultimate goal of providing access and mobility to people. The company's motto is “We Lift Lives”. This role involves working on an assembly line using various tools and equipment to assemble and test production assemblies and devices according to specifications and work instructions. The position requires adherence to daily production schedules to ensure high-quality products for customers.

Requirements

  • Read/Write English
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Work experience in a manufacturing environment beneficial.
  • Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment.
  • Be able to stand in small space for 10-hour shift.
  • Be able to consistently lift/pack 50-70 lb.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble/test production assemblies and devices using hand & power tools, fixtures, blueprints, work instructions, and test equipment.
  • Calibrate assemblies to meet tolerances, product specifications, and work instructions.
  • Work to achieve daily production schedule and ensure customer receives the highest quality product.
  • Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes, and procedures.
  • Report and/or record any problems with parts, final assembly product, or process to lead person, production manager, or quality assurance personnel.
  • Provide hands-on job function training to coworkers as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area (5s).
  • Report component part shortages to management and purchasing coordinator.
  • Assess adequacy of component part stocking levels.
  • Maintain established kanbans.
  • Create plans for assembly procedures, following specifications and using experience.
  • Operate production line equipment requiring specified training.
  • Mount and connect mechanical, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, or hydraulic equipment.
  • Cut and fit pipe and tubing.
  • Remove small quantities of metal using hand files or portable grinders to clean parts or ensure close fit.
  • Drill, tap, or ream holes using a drill press or portable drill.
  • Align components and fasten them together using hand tools or portable powered tools.
  • Install moving parts (e.g., shafts, levers, bearings) and test for free movement.
  • Align and mesh gears in a gearbox to assemble a system of gears.
  • Operate drill presses, punch presses, or riveting machines to assist in assembly.
  • Test the operation of completed products.
  • Pack and build pallets to prepare products for shipment.
  • Perform other duties/stations as assigned.
