About The Position

Sandvik is a Global Leader of OEM Manufactured Underground Mining Equipment. Our Winnipeg ITH (In-the hole) Center of Excellence is the Global OEM Manufacturer of our Underground ITH Drills and Support units. Currently, we have an opening for a Production Assembler – Heavy Equipment. This role is well suited for entry-level mechanics or hands-on and mechanically inclined learners who want to build real experience in heavy equipment manufacturing. As a Production Assembler, you will support and manufacture OEM equipment units for the global market via mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components. Do you have some experience with or want to learn schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings? Do you enjoy working with tools and seeing a machine come together piece by piece? Requirements

  • Willingness to learn equipment manufacturing, schematics, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Knowledge of basic hand tools, fasteners, and fittings.
  • Ability to work as part of an integrated, broad team.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift and overhead crane experience considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assembly/sub-assembly work of a machine: modules, electrics, hydraulics, cabin, etc.
  • Visual inspection of the quality and validity of the delivered materials for the work
  • Use hand and power tools to assemble or repair parts and products.
  • Interpret technical documents, such as diagrams, schematics, blueprints, or other verbal or written instructions.
  • Identify any defective items and handle them according to established procedures.
  • Work to standard operating procedures, manufacturing information, and instruction from management or engineering.
  • Assist with on-the-job training and continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
  • Complies with Sandvik Mining safety policies and applicable government, customer or industry regulations or requirements.
  • Responsibility to identify and report any unsafe work habits, workplace incidents and/or near misses.
  • Maintains hand tools and equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Maintains orderly work area and ensures housekeeping requirements are met.
  • Attend Environmental, Health and Safety related trainings.
  • Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) assigned for each task.
