About The Position

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Digital Engagement for Alumni Affairs, the Social Media Student Assistant will support the development of film projects, social media posts, and general alumni engagement. The ideal candidate is an outgoing, people-person who is not afraid to step in front of the camera if needed. General knowledge of camera operation, audio recording, and/or lighting setups are a plus. This opportunity is open to anyone interested in learning more about video production and editing. All levels of experience are encouraged to apply, but preference will be given to those with demo material. Please respond with your level of experience, areas of interest, and links to any relevant work. The Student Employment program provides opportunities for you to work part-time on campus, thereby helping you to meet some of your living expenses. With more than 900 positions ranging from 10 to 15 hours of work per week, as well as daily opportunities for project-based temporary employment, student employment is a great opportunity for professional and educational growth.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Summer employment requires pre-registration for the upcoming fall semester.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. (Students in their first semester can work without an official GPA).
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Record video in a variety of different production environments
  • Edit video projects both independently and collaboratively
  • Research and troubleshoot technological issues and challenges
  • Assist with gear and lighting setup and breakdown
  • Support the general operation of Alumni Affairs when needed
