About The Position

TAE Power Solutions (TPS) is the electrification spin-off from TAE Technologies, a leader in nuclear fusion technology. The company is leveraging unique power management technology originally developed for nuclear fusion and applying it in adjacent industries including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and DC Fast Charging for electric vehicles. We seek a highly skilled Product Validation Test Engineer to join our Product Validation team, reporting to the Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will execute daily test executions and validate ESS hardware and operational logic, ensuring end-to-end system correctness across all major Energy Storage System (ESS) components. This role requires comprehensive validation across power electronics hardware, demanding deep technical expertise and strong organizational skills for daily test management under the Engineering Manager's guidance.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with specialization in Power Electronics, or related field (Master's preferred)
3+ years experience with ESS or power electronics test operations
Direct experience testing BATT/UC systems, BMS/CMS interfaces, PCS, and PLC/HMI
Hands-on experience with test equipment: Grid Simulators, Electronic Loads, Oscilloscopes, DAQ systems, and experience with data logging systems and test report generation workflows
Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, or similar test automation tools
Hands-on experience with HIL/SIL test environment configuration and integration
Experience with certification testing processes (UL, IEC, IEEE standards)

Responsibilities

Develop and implement Normal Operation Tests, Abnormal Operation Tests, and Certification Tests per industry standards specific to hardware and logic validation
Configure and maintain validation equipment integration for in-lab ESS, including Grid Simulators, Electronic Loads, Oscilloscopes, and DAQ systems
Ensure proper integration and coordination between various hardware and software measurement and datalogging tools for hardware and operational logic validation
Document test procedures, results, and any hardware/software changes required based on validation findings
Organize and maintain daily test execution across all ESS major components (BATT/UC, High Voltage Boxes, BMS/CMS, PCS, PLC, HMI, GRID, E-Stop/Fire/Smoke systems)
Track test execution status, pass/fail criteria, and trending data across all validation categories, with emphasis on hardware performance metrics and operational correctness
Generate comprehensive daily test reports summarizing hardware and logical operation validation results, anomalies, and trending data, including HIL/SIL test outcomes
Create weekly and monthly validation progress reports for engineering management focused on hardware and logical operation performance
Operate and maintain validation equipment including Grid Simulators, Electronic Loads, Oscilloscopes, and DAQ systems for power electronics and logic test setup
Calibrate and verify validation equipment performance meets certification requirements for power electronics and logic validation systems
Manage test configurations for comprehensive power electronics hardware and logic validation across all ESS components
