About The Position

Flatirons Solutions is seeking a hands-on Product Technical Lead to guide engineering delivery, technical direction, and quality for one or more software products. The role leads an Agile team of Software and Quality Assurance Engineers and is accountable for meeting sprint and release commitments across scope, quality, schedule, and budget. The successful candidate combines software architecture and development expertise with collaborative leadership, working closely with Product Architects, Product Owners, UX, DevOps, Hosting, Delivery, and customer-facing teams to build reliable, high-quality solutions. The position owns the product’s software development lifecycle, including build processes, test automation, deployment, and release readiness. Boulder is the preferred location, but fully remote work will be considered. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent professional software engineering experience will be considered.
At least three years of experience in a technical lead, team lead, or comparable software engineering leadership role.
Strong hands-on experience across the software development lifecycle.
Demonstrated experience with software architecture, design, development, code review, and technical decision-making.
Experience leading, mentoring, and supporting software engineers in an Agile environment.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
A self-directed, resourceful approach with strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous learning.
Proficiency with personal productivity and software development tools.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively across teams.
Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and drive for excellence.
Must be a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

Experience with several of the following technologies: object-oriented programming languages such as Java with Spring Boot, C++, Objective-C, TypeScript, or similar languages; JavaScript, Angular, Angular Material, CSS, Less, or SCSS; XML, XSLT, DITA, SGML, and XQuery; content-authoring tools such as Arbortext, XMetaL, or Oxygen; relational databases including PostgreSQL and Oracle; relational database design; Tomcat or other application server technologies; Activiti or similar workflow platforms; Docker and Kubernetes; Amazon Web Services; VMware images hosted locally and remotely on ESX servers; document content management systems; XML applications; print and online publishing; and publication authoring.
Experience with airline publishing specifications, including S1000D and ATA iSpec 2200, is a strong plus.
Boulder is the preferred location; fully remote work will be considered.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor an Agile product team of 4–8 Software and Quality Assurance Engineers.
Provide technical leadership for product planning, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvement.
Partner with Product Architects and UX to define and maintain the overall solution architecture.
Collaborate with the Product Owner to prioritize the product backlog and support sprint and release planning.
Lead technical design discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
Establish and maintain sound design patterns, error handling, implementation architecture, subsystem design, automated testing practices, coding standards, and system performance.
Create technical designs and estimates for user stories in collaboration with the product team.
Ensure user story implementations meet acceptance criteria, quality standards, and agreed-upon estimates.
Own the software development lifecycle for the product, including build processes, test automation, deployment, and release readiness.
Provide technical direction to DevOps and Hosting teams on deployment architecture and operational needs.
Participate in technical discussions with customers alongside delivery and maintenance teams.
Identify and recommend process improvements and operational enhancements.
Understand and follow applicable requirements of the Quality Management System, Information Security Management System, and Privacy Information Management System.
