About The Position

This position is the Detroit Lead for Powertrain Product Strategy. They are responsible to work closely with Vehicle and Global Powertrain Product Strategy counterparts to define & align our future product plans. Always with a special focus on the North American market and what is necessary for Detroit Powertrain to remain the Powertrain of Choice. This position is also responsible for Leading Product Projects in preparation for QG9 approval. This includes leading global, cross-functional teams to align the efforts and funding required to bring a project from idea to SoP. This position could also be responsible for Leading & Implementing Product Projects from QG9 to QG0 as well, depending on available project manager resources for post-QG9 leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business or Engineering preferred)
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience as project manager
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to create a strong network within DDC and the overall Daimler Truck organization
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment (both locally and globally)
  • Knowledge of products and heavy truck markets / applications
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Powerpoint are mandatory.
  • Willingness to travel periodically – both domestic & international

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Detroit powertrain team in defining our product strategies for the future, including all current & future aggregates – Engine, ATS, Transmission, Axle, ePowertrain & H2 related technologies.
  • Align with DTNA Product Strategy & Engineering regarding current & future powertrain product projects.
  • Align with Global Powertrain Product Strategy (TT/XP) regarding Powertrain strategy moving forward.
  • Lead the communication and alignment with the various stakeholders within Detroit to ensure an integrated powertrain approach to projects.
  • Communicate Detroit powertrain portfolio (roadmap) updates to various stakeholders, including coordination and/or leading of End of Production (EoP) ICMs.
  • Evaluate competitors to have a clear understanding of their products and future projects.
  • Define the future product Roadmap based on market demands and clarify the impact to the current product lineup.
  • Serve as the Detroit Powertrain Lead for QG10 & QG9 evaluation of all product projects.
  • Lead larger projects that follow the Commercial Vehicle Development System (CVDS) process.
  • Ensure the overall accomplishment of program deliverables required for a successful launch.
  • Work closely with global counterparts to support the overall project objectives and timeline.
  • Lead cross-functional teams, organize tasks for team members, and provide feedback from other shareholder groups.
  • Lead the team to achieve CVDS gate requirements and present QG reports to management committees.
  • Monitor and ensure that project budget is achieved and provide status updates during financial planning (EA, OP).
  • Identify and resolve barriers to efficient execution of projects and act as intermediary between various cross-functional units.
