Agilent Technologies•Santa Clara, CA
•$236,832 - $370,050•Remote

About The Position

Agilent is seeking a highly experienced product strategy leader to help define how laboratories will evolve over the next five to ten years and translate that vision into actionable strategies for our businesses and product organizations. This senior individual contributor works across the enterprise at the intersection of customer insight, science, technology, and business strategy. As a recognized internal expert, you will lead high-impact, long-range initiatives, advise senior leadership, and independently solve complex challenges spanning multiple functions with limited support. You will connect external signals and customer needs with business-group priorities, product roadmaps, and execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific, engineering, business, or related discipline, or equivalent experience. A PhD, MBA, or equivalent advanced experience is strongly preferred.
  • Typically 12+ years of relevant combined experience across product strategy, product management, scientific research, strategy consulting, operations, technology, business development, or related fields.
  • Experience in life sciences, analytical instrumentation, diagnostics, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, laboratory technology, or adjacent markets is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex markets, translate trends into business strategy, and turn customer insight into product, portfolio, or organizational action.
  • A record of delivering results across functions and working credibly with senior business leaders, scientists, engineers, and product teams.
  • Strategic and systems thinking, with the ability to recognize patterns across markets, customers, technologies, and businesses.
  • Scientific and technical fluency, curiosity about AI and automation, and sound product judgment grounded in customer needs.
  • Structured problem solving and analytical rigor; ability to turn ambiguous information into concrete decisions and priorities.
  • Executive communication, facilitation, and influence across organizational boundaries without direct authority.
  • Ability to move between long-range strategy and practical execution, aligning stakeholders and sustaining follow-through.

Responsibilities

  • Assess how AI, automation, robotics, connected instruments, digital workflows, data platforms, and autonomous experimentation could change laboratory work. Identify practical applications in scientific productivity, instrument operation, workflow optimization, decision support, and service; distinguish durable shifts from short-term technology cycles.
  • Evaluate new products, solutions, partnerships, and business models. Develop strategic and financial cases that assess customer value, differentiation, and feasibility; recommend when to build, partner, invest, acquire, or apply existing capabilities differently.
  • Develop and continually refine Agilent’s view of Autonomous Labs. Synthesize scientific, technological, economic, and operational trends, including changing workforce models and productivity pressures, into scenarios and implications for our portfolio, business models, and investments.
  • Engage scientists, laboratory leaders, executives, key opinion leaders, and strategic customers to understand current operations and emerging needs. Identify workflow bottlenecks, fragmented data, automation gaps, usability challenges, and inefficiencies that span individual instruments or product categories.
  • Synthesize customer feedback across markets and businesses into clear problem statements, strategic requirements, opportunity areas, and investment recommendations. Connect market direction, competitive developments, technology adoption, and laboratory economics to customer value and business opportunity.
  • Partner with individual business and product groups to translate enterprise insight into specific decisions about what to develop, accelerate, integrate, redesign, partner around, or stop pursuing. Convert recommendations into product concepts, roadmap changes, customer experiments, and investment cases.
  • Lead initiatives across product management, R&D, commercial, digital, service, and business leadership. Align teams around customer problems that cross organizational boundaries and opportunities to combine instruments, software, consumables, automation, services, and data into more complete solutions.
