About The Position

Your Role The Product Strategy team develops & drives product strategy for the different lines of business. The Product Strategist, Consultant Self-Funded & Buy-Ups will support the self-funded line of business translating market insights, business objectives, client needs, and regulatory requirements into actionable product strategies. This role will support competitive insights, product roadmaps, and strategic recommendations that drive growth, retention, and profitability. The Product Strategist, Consultant will report to the Director, Self Funded & Buy-Ups. Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • Requires at least 7 years of prior relevant experience in product strategy, product management, portfolio management, health plan products, or related fields
  • Requires experience supporting product strategy, roadmap development, business case creation, and evaluation of product performance, growth opportunities, retention strategies, and profitability drivers
  • Requires experience conducting market research, competitive intelligence, and financial or operational analysis
  • Deep understanding of health plan products, market dynamics, and regulatory environments
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Intermediate to advanced data analysis including use of pivot tables, charts, data tables, sensitivity analysis, financial modeling, and charting
  • Effectively understand how to productize and monetize vendor capabilities to be sold and packaged for clients

Nice To Haves

  • master's degree in business (MBA), public health (MPH), or related field strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of self-funded business is preferred
  • Experience in writing technical requirements for product launch preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, maintenance, roadmap development, and prioritization for assigned lines of business
  • Translate strategic direction into actionable initiatives, business requirements, and implementation plans
  • Identify opportunities to improve growth, retention, and profitability
  • Evaluate market trends, emerging client needs, competitive activity, and regulatory developments to inform strategic recommendations
  • Recommend product enhancements, modifications, new offerings, or product exits
  • Establish success metrics and monitor performance against strategic objectives
  • Present product recommendations, business cases, tradeoffs, and risks to senior leadership
  • Prepare strategic initiatives for implementation and support post-launch monitoring by ensuring accurate product information across systems, filings, communications, and operational processes while identifying and addressing performance or implementation issues
  • Lead market assessments and competitive research efforts for assigned portfolios
  • Evaluate competitor products, pricing strategies, networks, benefit offerings, and market positioning
  • Identify emerging trends, market opportunities, customer demands, and industry disruptions
  • Conduct scenario planning and assess impacts of competitive and market changes
  • Develop strategic recommendations and business cases supported by market insights and performance data
  • Present competitive intelligence findings and implications to leadership and stakeholders
  • Identify and help resolve operational issues through cross departmental collaboration
  • Own risk and issue resolution management, including cross-functional meetings, risk mitigation and corrective action plans, and status reporting
  • Coordinate across teams to drive timely resolution and escalate risks as needed
  • Identify and support development of processes and controls to prevent recurring issues
