About The Position

The Product Specialist Role ensures the organization has all relevant material and information to sell and support Outboard Motor Sales. Oversee organization’s wide marine product information requirements, communicate, and support internal stakeholders and boat builder partners respectively. Develop educational training plans and material, focusing on product features and benefits.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree
  • Technical, research, academic background, and sales would be a plus
  • Minimum 5-10 years
  • Recreational Boating Industry and Yamaha Marine product knowledge required
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently and manage own time effectively.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills with natural ability to build solid working business relationships.
  • Strong analytical skill and technical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Ability to communicate marine product features and consumer benefits.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and boat operator’s card.

Responsibilities

  • Product Planning - Develop product planning requirements based on market input, data and research. Work with Yamaha Japan and their affiliates to confirm mid-term product plans and be the leading voice for Yamaha Canada future needs. Communicate detailed product information to all internal departments with ongoing support to ensure our teams can confidently sell the product.
  • Competitor Analysis - Be a market expert. Perform specific market research, analysis and reports which includes detailed competitive analysis of pricing and features & benefits that supports the positioning of our current & new models.
  • Training Materials - Develop a high level of product knowledge and market information that can assist in the positioning of key models. Prepare, distribute educational training materials for dealers, boat builder partners and staff that support existing and new product introductions. This includes Rigging Sales Guides, Production Information guides, and developing new materials.
  • P&A / Marine Rigging Integration - Work directly with Parts & Accessories development to advance the selection of key accessories and rigging parts to ensure availability at time of product launch. Your MRP expertise will help us improve rigging solutions efficiently for the market.
  • Marine Special Markets - Support sales team with necessary technical application to completing government tenders and price quotes.
  • Events - Support marketing at various dealer, media, consumer and press events as required.
