About The Position

First Due is seeking a tech-savvy, customer-focused fire and EMS subject matter expert to work as an Implementation Product Specialist – Assets & Inventory. In this role, you will work with Fire & EMS customers to implement and optimize First Due's Assets & Inventory module, providing industry-leading guidance and support as First Due continues to build its best-of-breed end-to-end Fire and EMS platform. The ideal candidate brings hands-on fire or EMS operational experience, a deep understanding of apparatus and equipment lifecycle management, medication and controlled substance accountability, and the ability to translate complex agency workflows into scalable software configurations.

Requirements

  • Experience in Fire or EMS operations, with direct exposure to apparatus maintenance programs, equipment tracking, or quartermaster/supply functions strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with NFPA standards governing apparatus inspection, testing, and maintenance (NFPA 1911, 1912, 1852, etc.).
  • Understanding of common fire and EMS inventory workflows including daily/weekly checks, SCBA management, and PPE lifecycle compliance.
  • Familiarity with ALS medication management practices, including controlled substance accountability, DEA recordkeeping requirements, and EMS formulary tracking as they relate to inventory systems.
  • Ability to take customer requests, determine the desired end state, and provide a clear, efficient path to the best solution.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to groups of varying technical backgrounds.
  • Exceptional project management skills: ability to manage multiple customer implementations simultaneously.
  • Patient, responsive, supportive, and respectful; adept at presenting, responding to feedback, and overcoming obstacles constructively.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert and Implementation Product Specialist for the Assets & Inventory module.
  • Work directly with new customers to efficiently and effectively configure and optimize the Assets & Inventory module, including apparatus tracking, equipment inventory, inspection workflows, and maintenance scheduling.
  • Partner with Implementation Project Managers to successfully implement and launch First Due to Fire and EMS agencies of varying sizes and complexities.
  • Guide customers on best practices for apparatus and equipment lifecycle management, including compliance with NFPA 1911, NFPA 1912, NFPA 1852, and other applicable standards.
  • Advise agencies on structuring inventory hierarchies, asset categorization, and inspection frequency aligned with their SOGs and regulatory requirements.
  • Guide ALS agencies on configuring medication and controlled substance inventory tracking, including DEA compliance workflows, expiration date management, chain-of-custody documentation, and par-level replenishment for Paramedic and Advanced EMT units.
  • Provide configuration guidance on maintenance tracking, out-of-service workflows, and integration with other First Due modules including Scheduling, Incident Reporting, and Response.
  • Stay educated on module functionality, configuration options, and evolving industry best practices and compliance requirements specific to fire apparatus, EMS equipment, and medication management.
  • Maintain a full understanding of features in current and future sprints as well as the Assets & Inventory product roadmap.
  • Document product gaps identified during implementation and collaborate with Product Management to ideate solutions, particularly around compliance and operational workflow requirements.
  • Participate in regional and national user group meetings, both virtually and in person, representing the Assets & Inventory product area.
  • Develop a deep understanding of competitors' capabilities within the asset management and inventory space for public safety.
