About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced PACS Analyst to join our dynamic IT team and play a critical role in the support, maintenance, and optimization of our Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and related medical imaging applications. This position requires a strong blend of clinical workflow understanding, technical IT expertise, and direct experience with various radiology and imaging technologies. The ideal candidate will ensure the seamless operation of our imaging systems, contribute to improved patient care, and provide expert-level support to our clinical users.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, required.
  • Direct experience supporting, configuring, and troubleshooting PACS systems in a healthcare environment.
  • Proven experience in healthcare application support and testing, ideally within a radiology or medical imaging department.
  • Strong understanding of radiology and medical imaging workflows, including image acquisition, storage, distribution, viewing, and interpretation.
  • Solid IT background and training, including familiarity with Windows operating systems, network fundamentals, and database concepts.
  • Familiarity with medical imaging standards and protocols, including DICOM, HL7, and XDS. Experience troubleshooting interface issues is highly valued.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in a scheduled after-hours on-call rotation for critical support needs.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical information for non-technical users and clinical staff.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert-level support for PACS and integrated imaging systems, diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues reported by radiologists, technologists, and other clinical staff. This includes hardware, software, and connectivity problems.
  • Perform routine system maintenance, monitoring of system performance, storage utilization, and data integrity checks to ensure optimal operation and proactive identification of potential issues.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, technologists, and other clinical stakeholders to understand their workflow needs, identify areas for improvement, and configure PACS and imaging applications to enhance efficiency and clinical effectiveness.
  • Conduct thorough testing of new systems, system upgrades, patches, and integrations (UAT, functional testing) before deployment to ensure stability and functionality.
  • Assist in the support, testing, and troubleshooting of interfaces, ensuring smooth and accurate data exchange between PACS, EMRs, modalities, and other systems using standards such as HL7, DICOM, and XDS.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of system configurations, support procedures, troubleshooting guides, and user manuals. Assist in training end-users on PACS and imaging application functionalities.
  • Participate actively in an after-hours on-call rotation to provide timely support for critical system issues, ensuring 24/7 operational continuity.
  • Contribute to IT projects related to imaging system upgrades, migrations, new implementations, and technology evaluations.
  • Liaise with vendors for support, issue escalation, and system enhancements.
  • Analyzes, verifies, tracks and recommends for development of implementation plans for system development and implementation of products and solutions which may include discovery, design, conversion, testing, and/or any other components of the project plan cycle and agile delivery.
  • Serves as a liaison between business and technology teams.
  • Participates in developing and delivering training programs for current and prospective users; educates practice, site, and corporate management on project operations and procedures.
  • Assists implementation team in configuring HIPAA rules based on System policies and legal requirements.
  • Ensures processes are compliant with system policies, applicable laws, and contractual bargaining agreements.
  • Performs solution audits; resolves discrepancies, as required.
  • Collaborates with implementation teams to resolve user issues.
  • Consults with departments to provide customer support during and post implementation.
  • Conducts post implementation satisfaction surveys; advises management of results and recommends actions; troubleshoots issues and resolves concerns as well as recommends necessary fixes; consults with newly acquired facilities and designs transition and implementation plans.
