About The Position

The Product Quality Engineer will assure that major ETO (Engineer to Order) projects will be implemented properly from order to hand over to the customer. In particular, they will be in close contact with the local Service organization and the central functions (R&D, Marketing, Service, and Quality) to coordinate communication between the two parties and ensure customer requirements are understood and timely applied. They will coordinate activities that central function personnel need to perform on-site to support the local organization (if requested or needed) and will supervise on-site if necessary. The role involves following up on problems found from the design phase to commissioning, involving the relevant department.

Requirements

  • Technical school background.
  • University degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of Power Products and principles.
  • 3-5 or more years of experience in a technical position (e.g., Quality, Service, Product Manager).
  • Good English proficiency.
  • Computer literate, specifically the MS Office package (Access included).
  • Ability to plan activities in the short to medium term.
  • Ability to coordinate people from different departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks by setting the right priorities.
  • Highly customer-focused.
  • Problem-solving capability.
  • Attitude to listen to customer (internal and external) needs.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately in a busy and demanding environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support central functions to ensure a smooth process from ETO design phase to assembly and test activities in the factory, including kick-off meetings, PDCA document preparation, closure meetings, assembly process, final test, and witness tests.
  • Collect technical and commercial information and documentation (e.g., technical drawings, order documentation, unit settings) from central functions (R&D, Marketing, Service, Operations, and Quality) and make them available to the local organization to support site activities.
  • Regularly collect information on site situations (e.g., site activity plan, utilities availability) and share it with central functions (R&D and Service) to support and facilitate activities performed by central functions on-site.
  • Monitor site activity and facilitate communication between central and local teams when needed.
  • Report any issues found at the site by the local team or during site visits to the departments responsible for managing and fixing them (Service, Production, R&D, Quality, etc.).
  • Visit sites involved in major projects before, during, and/or after unit commissioning (based on specific needs) to support the local organization and gather information for product improvement.
  • Follow up on all activities performed by central functions to ensure they are completed as expected.
  • Monitor product behavior after customer hand-over and report major issues to the factory (R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, etc.).
  • Lead the development of FMEAs and control plans and maintain the resulting protocols for processing materials into finished products.
  • Develop standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of both manufactured and purchased products.
  • Support Supplier Quality and plants in the execution of supplier PPAPs.
  • Adjudicate PPAPs from internal and external manufacturers.
  • Lead corrective action activities and facilitate cross-functional teams in the application of the 8D methodology.
  • Support plant efforts to address customer complaints and returns.
  • Monitor global product field failure rates to drive improvement and inform future reliability targets.
