Job Summary The Product Owner maximizes the business value their products create by articulating the “what” and “why” of the product, translating user needs into meaningful features and user stories, prioritizing and managing the agile team backlog, and acting as the ultimate decision maker to manage the backlog to best execute the product roadmap. They serve as a key member of the Agile team, collaborating with the Scrum Master and Development Team to ensure continuous delivery of value. The Product Owner advocates for the voice of the customer and ensures alignment with enterprise goals. The Product Owner works closely with business executives, management, end users, agile teams, and functional/technical team members to rapidly deliver quality solutions to Pulte’s customers and employees.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of product ownership, Agile delivery, and value‑based prioritization.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a product portfolio.
  • Basic understanding of enterprise risk, controls, and compliance considerations within technology delivery.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Typically, 6–8 years of relevant experience in product ownership, Agile delivery, or related roles.
  • Strong written and visual communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey product goals, delivery status, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Agile backlog and delivery management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps) to manage priorities, dependencies, and delivery commitments.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint) to support product planning, reporting, and collaboration.
  • Experience using road mapping and visualization tools (e.g., Airfocus, Miro, Visio) to support discovery, planning, and alignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI‑enabled tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT) to support analysis, backlog refinement, communication, and continuous improvement.
  • Analytical skills and technical fluency, including familiarity with data concepts and basic querying, to support informed product decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product backlog and represent the Agile team prioritization and alignment with strategic goals to executive and senior leadership.
  • Demonstrate accountability for outcomes aligned to assigned value streams, not solely feature delivery.
  • Own and deliver regular written and visual product status updates to executive and senior leadership, including progress against value stream goals, delivered outcomes, key risks, dependencies, and upcoming milestones.
  • Clearly communicate product vision, business value, goals, and priorities to the Agile delivery team and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the product and its value proposition, becoming the go-to person for strategic product decisions.
  • Develop deep understanding of business processes within assigned functional area and related to the products you own.
  • Build, refine, and prioritize product backlog to maximize value delivery.
  • Apply analytical skills to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding, distinguish presented user requests from the underlying true needs, and distinguish solution ideas from requirements.
  • Make recommendations regarding unique testing strategies for stories, features and/or products.
  • Author Epics, Features and User Stories, clearly defining acceptance criteria and accept user stories as "Done"
  • Collaborate with support teams to ensure product quality and performance, while maintaining focus on strategic product ownership and value delivery.
  • Evaluates and follows through on issues and problems until resolved or escalated in accordance with the specified process and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Partner with risk, controls, and technology stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and coordinate remediation of control breaks, ensuring issues are visible, tracked, and resolved through the product backlog.
  • Review, prioritize, and communicate security, risk, and vulnerability findings (e.g., application security or compliance reports), translating findings into backlog items and clearly articulating risk tradeoffs and remediation status to stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular product demos and reviews with stakeholders to gather feedback and validate product direction.
  • Own sprint and release communications, ensuring stakeholders understand delivered value, changes, and impacts in clear, consumable formats beyond live demos.
  • Identifies and leads process improvements by collaborating with Scrum Master, other Product Owners and Agile Team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
