About The Position

The Product Owner translates product strategy and roadmap priorities into clear, actionable work for engineering teams, and drives the value delivered by every release and sprint. This is a tactical, execution-focused role: the Product Owner owns the backlog for a defined product area, works day-to-day with engineering and design, and ensures that what gets built matches what customers and the business need most. Acting as the primary connection point between the Product Manager's vision and the development team's execution, the Product Owner combines strong product domain knowledge with hands-on agile delivery experience. Success in this role depends on sound day-to-day judgment — making trade-off decisions that keep delivery aligned to the broader product strategy set by Product Management and business leaders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or in a related agile delivery/product role at a software company.
  • Working knowledge of agile/scrum methodologies and hands-on experience with backlog and sprint management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate strategic direction and customer needs into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience partnering directly with engineering teams, with comfort leading technical discussions on feasibility, sequencing, and trade-offs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail in requirements definition and quality validation.
  • Working understanding of enterprise-scale, cloud-hosted, and SaaS technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare IT experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence rather than authority.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills, with a track record of collaboration across engineering, design, and cross-functional business teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own and prioritize the product backlog for an assigned product area, writing clear user stories and acceptance criteria that translate roadmap themes and customer requirements into actionable engineering work.
  • Partner daily with engineering and design throughout the development lifecycle — refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives — making timely trade-off decisions on scope, sequencing, and priority, and escalating strategic or financial trade-offs to the Product Manager or Director as needed.
  • Validate that delivered features meet acceptance criteria and the intended customer or business outcome, serving as the day-to-day point of contact for engineering on requirements, intent, and priority.
  • Gather and synthesize input from Sales, Customer Success, Support, and customers to inform backlog refinement, and support the Product Manager with market research, competitive analysis, and feature-level requirements.
  • Track and report on sprint and release progress, velocity, and delivery metrics, proactively flagging risks to scope or timeline, and incorporate feedback from user acceptance testing and beta programs into subsequent backlog iterations.
