Product Owner – LMP AI Workflows
About The Position
Sanofi is undergoing a significant digital transformation, with a focus on accelerating data initiatives and adopting AI/ML solutions to enhance R&D, manufacturing, and commercial performance. The R&D Data & AI Products and Platforms Team is central to this effort, aiming to democratize data and scale AI/ML capabilities within R&D. This role involves leading the development of innovative software products for Scientific Workflow Engineering in AI/ML, including ML Ops workflows and generative AI applications for areas like protein design and structural chemistry. The Product Owner will collaborate with scientists and technical stakeholders, manage the product lifecycle, and work with a scrum team of engineers to deliver impactful digital products for scientific research.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Biotechnology, Data Science, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
- Experience leading product development in scientific environments, particularly in areas like small molecule and large molecule research.
- Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS to build and deploy scientific and AI/ML workflows.
- Strong understanding of machine learning operations (ML Ops), particularly in generative AI, protein design, protein folding, and structural chemistry.
- 5+ years in product management, preferably with experience in bioinformatics, life sciences, or AI/ML platforms.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Agile methodologies, including experience working in Scrum teams.
- Familiarity with product management tools and frameworks, such as Jira, Confluence, Miro, and related.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and ML frameworks for scientific applications.
- Strong understanding of UX/UI, application design, and data engineering principles.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with cloud platforms, AI platforms, and data pipelines is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and evolution of digital products supporting bioinformatics workflows and ML operations, ensuring they meet scientific, research, and business objectives.
- Own the product roadmap, defining clear and actionable goals aligned with company strategy and scientific team needs.
- Bridge the gap between scientists and product teams, acting as a coordinator, driver, and translator to ensure outcomes align with business needs and value.
- Gather and prioritize requirements from scientists, technical stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to define product development scope.
- Work closely with scientists, data engineers, and platform engineers to ensure the product meets scientific and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional teams (R&D, technology, operations) to ensure alignment and support for the product strategy with business cases and industry standards.
- Oversee the agile product development process, ensuring smooth product delivery from conception to iteration.
- Mitigate risks and issues during product delivery, and report/provide regular product updates to various forums.
- Partner with the Scrum Master and delivery team to ensure timely sprints, address challenges, and resolve ambiguities.
- Manage backlog prioritization, balancing short-term deliverables with long-term goals and innovative ideas.
- Track product performance and impact post-launch, gathering feedback for continuous improvement.
- Monitor user satisfaction, adoption, and scientific outcomes to ensure the product evolves with researcher and business needs.
- Bring a deep understanding of scientific workflows in bioinformatics and ML operations, including generative AI, protein design, folding, and structural chemistry.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, proposing solutions to business needs and driving maturity.
- Inspire and lead a team of engineers by articulating a clear product vision and demonstrating innovative solution potential.
