About The Position

Ulta Beauty is redefining how guests discover, evaluate, and shop for beauty through experiences that feel intelligent, personalized, intuitive, and uniquely Ulta. We are seeking a Product Owner, Discovery to help build and scale Ulta’s next-generation shopping experiences across ulta.com and the Ulta Beauty mobile apps. This role will help shape how guests interact with intelligent shopping experiences that deliver personalized product recommendations, beauty guidance, education, and seamless paths to purchase. The Product Owner will help embed actionable experiences into key moments of the shopping journey, helping guests discover products faster, make confident decisions, and complete purchases with less friction. The Product Owner is a core member of the Agile Scrum team and is responsible for executing the product roadmap that powers Ulta’s Product Discovery ecosystem. This includes capabilities such as conversational product discovery, personalized recommendations, cart building, product education, promotional awareness, and future AI-enabled shopping enhancements. This individual will partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, UX Design, Data Science, Analytics, and external partners to bring innovative experiences to market quickly while ensuring quality, scalability, and measurable business impact. The Product Owner is responsible for managing the day-to-day execution of product development, maintaining and prioritizing the product backlog, defining user stories and acceptance criteria, and ensuring the team is focused on delivering experiences that improve guest engagement, conversion, and loyalty. This role requires someone who is passionate about emerging AI experiences, customer-centric product design, and translating complex technology into simple, elegant shopping experiences that create real value for guests.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of product ownership/product management experience in digital commerce, mobile apps, search, personalization, AI products, or conversational experiences
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments managing product backlogs and sprint execution
  • Strong understanding of customer-facing digital experiences and ecommerce conversion funnels
  • Familiarity with AI-powered experiences such as recommendation engines, conversational interfaces, personalization, or search platforms preferred
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience using product performance metrics to drive decision-making
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, UX, Data, and external partners
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, Figma, and analytics platforms preferred

Responsibilities

  • Own execution of Ulta’s Digital Product Discovery roadmap across web and mobile app experiences
  • Translate product strategy into prioritized epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and sprint deliverables
  • Partner with Product Managers to deliver next generation shopping experiences that improve discovery, consideration, and conversion
  • Partner with third-party vendors and platform partners to ensure product execution aligns with business objectives
  • Work closely with Engineering, UX, Analytics, and AI/technology partners to launch scalable conversational commerce capabilities
  • Optimize guest-facing product discovery experiences including product recommendations, guided shopping, cart building, and personalized discovery journeys
  • Monitor product performance metrics including engagement, conversion, add-to-bag, average order value, revenue per visit, and guest satisfaction
  • Support experimentation efforts including A/B testing, feature rollouts, and iterative optimization
  • Manage product backlog and re-prioritize based on business goals, guest feedback, operational needs, and technical constraints
  • Ensure experiences align with brand standards, legal/compliance requirements, and responsible AI guardrails
  • Participate in Quarterly Program Increment planning and cross-functional roadmap planning sessions
  • Lead product demos, stakeholder communication, and release readiness activities
  • Partner with UX teams to create intuitive, trustworthy, and engaging conversational shopping experiences
  • Collaborate with personalization, search, merchandising, and digital commerce teams to create connected shopping journeys
  • Help define future capabilities such as multimodal shopping, virtual try-on integrations, personalized routines, and agent-assisted checkout experiences
  • Identify operational gaps, product risks, and scalability opportunities as the AI Shopping Agent grows
