Product Marketing Manager

MercivNew York, NY
$125,000 - $175,000Onsite

About The Position

Merciv is a consumer intelligence platform that helps major consumer brands understand their consumers by unifying internal knowledge, third-party data, and the open web into an actionable source of truth. Having raised $14M in seed funding and spent two years in stealth serving enterprise customers, Merciv is experiencing rapid growth. This role is for a lean, high-ownership team member who wants to see their work make an immediate impact. This is the first dedicated product marketer role, responsible for bridging the gap between Merciv's product and its customers. The focus is on articulating Merciv's capabilities, use cases, value, and proof to convert interest into pipeline and assist Sales in closing deals. While the brand and content function handles awareness and top-of-funnel activities, this role owns conversion, mid-to-bottom funnel efforts, product storytelling, and sales support, with accountability for these areas. The target buyer is a VP of Consumer Insights or similar roles at enterprise consumer companies. The sales process is multi-stakeholder, long-cycle, and relies heavily on trust, as it involves customers bringing proprietary data into the Merciv platform. The product marketer's primary objective is to make Merciv's value clear and understandable to this buyer, using their language, and to empower the internal champion within each account. This is a hands-on position requiring the individual to set positioning and create key assets such as decks, one-pagers, ads, and simple landing pages, working within established brand guidelines and collaborating with the brand team to elevate creative execution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product marketing experience in a high-growth tech startup, preferably B2B, selling to enterprise buyers.
  • Experience positioning products for senior data, insights, or analytics audiences who are skeptical of marketing claims.
  • Experience marketing trust, including messaging and proof points related to security, privacy, and credibility for enterprise adoption of platforms handling proprietary data.
  • Proven track record marketing data-heavy B2B platforms, making complex products understandable without oversimplification.
  • Demonstrated success in creating work that has measurably impacted win rates, conversion rates, or influenced pipeline, not just output.
  • Hands-on ability to produce marketing assets, not just develop strategy.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted workflows and automation in marketing, with a clear understanding of what to automate and what not to.
  • High ownership mentality and low ego, with the ability to take direction and provide constructive pushback.
  • Ability to work in-person in NYC.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with long-cycle, referral-driven enterprise sales motions and multi-stakeholder deals.
  • Fluency in the AI, data, or research-tech categories.
  • Familiarity with CPG/consumer brands.
  • Experience establishing a PMM function from scratch or operating as a sole PMM.

Responsibilities

  • Own positioning and messaging, including value maps that connect capabilities to quantified outcomes for specific buyers, and differentiate from tools like ChatGPT.
  • Run go-to-market strategies for new features and capabilities, including launch narratives, tiering, and cross-functional plans with Product, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Build sales enablement materials such as pitch narratives, decks, one-pagers, battlecards, objection handling guides, demo scripts, and a demo video library.
  • Create mid-to-bottom-funnel content, including solution and use-case pages, demo narratives, case studies, and comparison content.
  • Maintain competitive intelligence against AI tools, social listening platforms, and direct competitors, and integrate this into messaging.
  • Conduct win/loss analysis, buyer interviews, and usage research to inform positioning and the product roadmap.
  • Partner with the product team during capability development to ensure alignment between product features and communication strategies.
  • Contribute to adjacent areas that impact key metrics, such as website conversion, demand campaigns, events, and webinars.

Benefits

  • Evidence over opinion approach to decision-making, using message testing, win/loss data, and conversion data.
  • Direct feedback culture.
  • Results-driven environment focused on influence metrics like win rate, conversion, adoption, and influenced pipeline.
