About The Position

Verse is hiring a Product Manager to own the real-time telemetry, control, and model predictive optimization layer of its Dispatch Intelligence platform. The platform monitors and controls on-site batteries and other distributed energy resources in real time, helping data centers maintain compute availability while providing flexibility to the grid and earning revenue in energy markets. The role involves building high-performance software that controls distributed energy resources through edge gateways or hardware-level virtualization platforms at customer sites. The Product Manager will work closely with engineers to define requirements for connecting to and controlling site equipment, executing optimized schedules, and responding to failures across the dispatch process. Verse is an energy intelligence software company serving AI data centers and other large energy consumers. Its platform combines real-time control of energy assets with visibility into customers’ energy portfolios.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of product management experience on software for grid-connected distributed energy resources, embedded systems, or industrial control systems; alternatively, 2–4 years in a related technical role such as technical program management, applications engineering, project engineering, commissioning or controls engineering, or NOC/fleet operations.
  • Hands-on exposure to software that communicates with physical hardware, with an understanding of associated reliability, latency, and integration challenges.
  • Working knowledge of device communication and messaging protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, or NATS, or experience integrating third-party hardware vendors with different APIs, firmware versions, and data formats.
  • A solid technical foundation in distributed systems, edge computing, or IoT.
  • Ability to reason about site-to-cloud architectures, data buffering, retries, and failure modes, and comfort reading API specifications and telemetry data.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with optimization and forecasting concepts, or AI data center requirements such as load smoothing and low voltage ride through.
  • Background in site commissioning, field operations, or NOC workflows, including understanding what it takes to bring a site online and keep it running.
  • Familiarity with how large data center loads participate in PJM or other wholesale markets, including large-load interconnection, capacity markets, demand response, and flexible-load commitments.
  • Familiarity with AVEVA/OSIsoft PI, utility SCADA integration, or market access provider APIs such as Enel or PJM for grid services dispatch.
  • A technical degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a similar field, or equivalent hands-on experience with control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Drive OEM integrations across battery energy storage system manufacturers and meters, including telemetry ingestion, alarm management, and configuration of complex multi-device site topologies across the fleet.
  • Own fleet telemetry and real-time controls roadmap features from requirements through release, including device integration, OEM protocol translation, and real-time safety logic.
  • Own end-to-end requirements for the dispatch path from the cloud optimizer to the site.
  • Partner with engineering and data science teams on optimization engine decisions from the cloud to the device and back, and design system recovery when any part of the chain fails.
  • Write technical PRDs, test plans, and scenario write-ups for engineers, operators, and customers.
  • Take features and the platform to general availability, including deployment, customer and site network scheduling, rollback plans, and results reporting.
  • Track dispatch health metrics, including schedule adherence, state-of-charge drift, command-to-confirmation latency, uptime, and alarm volume, and use them to prioritize reliability work.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and equity grant at a high-growth startup.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, and 401(k).
  • Flexible hours and unlimited PTO.
  • Diverse and inclusive working environment.
