About The Position

aiEDU is seeking two experienced product managers for short-term (6-month) fractional independent contractor positions. These roles involve supporting the development of educator- and student-facing products, with a focus on leveraging AI to accelerate the product development process. The product managers will act as player-coaches, upskilling aiEDU's internal team in effective product development practices, including AI-assisted development and augmented workflows. Project 1 focuses on building vibecoding.aiedu.org, a platform for learning by building with AI, incorporating community features. Project 2 involves revamping educator-focused products, including a new Curriculum Management System and partner-facing products. The ideal candidate will not only manage the product process but also coach internal teams, build PM capacity, understand current workflows, define requirements, and guide vendor evaluation or build decisions. The goal is to enhance aiEDU's internal AI readiness and shared infrastructure.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product management experience, including experience leading 0→1.
  • Experience turning ambiguous ideas into clear product requirements, prototypes, delivery plans, and launch decisions.

  • Significant expertise in UI/UX front end development.
  • Technical fluency, including experience with authentication, data infrastructure and security and privacy considerations.
  • Ability to define clear technical requirements and partner with contracted engineers to deliver.
  • Demonstrated ability to run discovery processes and user testing.
  • Strong user empathy for educators, students, nonprofit teams, and partners.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong documentation habits.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills—you can lead a cross-functional process without formal authority.
  • Genuine interest in mentorship; you're comfortable explaining your process while doing it.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in K-12 education, educator professional learning, curriculum or student-facing technology, including addressing privacy, safety and equity issues.

  • Build the product end-to-end across a 2-3 month window, coordinating across aiEDU stakeholders to maintain alignment.
  • Define evaluation criteria and product analytics aligned with aiEDU's mission and operational needs; evaluate and refine product as needed.
  • Coach and upskill aiEDU’s own staff throughout the engagement, sharing best practices for product development and creating documentation, templates and frameworks that can be used for future product development.
  • Support our Operations team in advancing the aiEDU’s team internal AI readiness, advising as relevant on AI-assisted product development, AI augmented workflows and the shared infrastructure required to take our work to the next level.
