Key responsibilities include working with stakeholders to understand their needs, and with product owners or specialists to ensure they are aligning priorities. Job expectations include ensuring delivery of products that meet client expectations, including features, security, availability, resiliency, timelines and costs. Seeking a dynamic Database Product Manger to lead the third party strategy, lifecycle, and business management of our best-in-class ADS Database Services portfolio of products. In this role, you will shape the future of database capabilities within the enterprise by driving product roadmaps, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring seamless delivery of database services. As the bridge between technology and business, role will collaborate with engineering, operations, and application teams to align solutions with enterprise goals. Role oversees financials, vendor risk, and lifecycle management while influencing technical development priorities. This is a unique opportunity for someone passionate about database technologies who thrives on translating technical capabilities into business value—without needing hands-on coding expertise.

Requirements

  • Over 5 years of experience working with databases or related infrastructure.
  • Negotiating commercial agreements and managing vendor relationships.
  • Five years' experience managing software lifecycles and licensing.
  • Five years' experience driving business-side technology initiatives: application requirements gathering, roadmap development, and financial management.
  • Present technical and financial insights to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence at all levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in financial forecasting and accrual accounting.
  • Building product level business cases for technology investments.
  • Leading executive briefings with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the database portfolio of third party products in ADS.
  • Commercial activities (capital procurement, contract execution and financial forecasting), third party engagement management, license demand/compliance, enterprise architecture registrations, product lifecycles and EOL remediation support.
  • Generates the vision and roadmap for the program based on customer requirements, industry trends, regulations, and the strategic direction for the business or technology domain.
  • Communicates the program vision and roadmap to stakeholders, product owners and the teams.
  • Oversees the budget(s) for one or more products by working closely with finance partners on both personnel and non-personnel expenses.
  • Provides input into defining business capabilities and aligning them to products or creating new products to support them.
  • Ensures product availability by partnering closely with demand and capacity teammates.
  • Develops business cases for new products and additional features for existing products.
  • Partners with the product owners and the teams to ensure that optimum value is obtained through technology and subject-matter expertise and understanding of the business and industry trends.
  • Manage commercial software licenses and procurement processes for Database Services.
  • Partner with CIO application teams to manage hardware and software demand forecasts.
  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of database products and services, from strategy to execution.
  • Drive financial accountability, including budgeting, forecasting, chargebacks, and benchmarking.
  • Lead vendor negotiations, manage contracts, and mitigate vendor risk in collaboration with procurement and vendor management.
  • Partner with engineering and vendor teams to deliver innovative solutions and manage technical development activities.
