About The Position

Milliman IntelliScript is seeking a Product Manager, R&D to provide product leadership for experimentation from discovery through early adoption and transition. The R&D team tests the viability of new products and capabilities that can drive revenue and operational efficiencies through software, data, and emerging technologies, with a focus on customer, operational, strategic, and learning value. The Product Manager partners with engineering, data science, design, clinical, operational, commercial, and other teams to rapidly test ideas and assess their viability and impact. The role combines strategic judgment with hands-on execution, including decisions about whether experiments should be scaled, refined, transitioned to another team, or stopped. It requires comfort with ambiguity, versatility, strong product judgment, and technical curiosity. The role also identifies and evaluates opportunities for AI and other emerging technologies, shapes AI-enabled features and experiments, and works with relevant stakeholders to support responsible use. The Product Manager helps create reusable approaches and product patterns and champions rapid learning, knowledge sharing, and evidence-based decision-making. The position is open to remote work anywhere in the United States, with travel to the Brookfield, Wisconsin office and to client sites, conferences, and other events, most often day trips and up to 10%.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in product management, product development, software R&D, innovation, or related roles; healthcare technology or other data-intensive domains are preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading ambiguous, cross-functional product work from discovery and experimentation through validation, delivery, and adoption.
  • Experience translating complex needs into product strategy, requirements, and measurable outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of AI-enabled product development, including AI opportunities, limitations, quality considerations, and responsible-use practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to influence technical, business, and senior stakeholder groups.
  • Proficiency with product-development and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Microsoft 365, or comparable platforms.
  • Strong product judgment and ability to connect strategy, user needs, technical feasibility, risk, and measurable value.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, data, design, and domain experts to deliver products, features, prototypes, or reusable capabilities.
  • Ability to identify high-value AI use cases and partner with technical teams to evaluate AI-enabled experiences and outputs.
  • Comfort experimenting with emerging technologies and turning uncertain opportunities into structured learning plans and decisions.
  • Track record of prioritizing product work and making tradeoffs across impact, effort, risk, dependencies, and speed to learning.
  • Ability to build alignment, constructively challenge assumptions, and influence decisions without formal authority.
  • Analytical mindset and evidence-based decision-making skills.
  • Constructive, can-do approach to overcoming obstacles.
  • Self-motivated and adaptable, able to take ownership, work independently, and collaborate in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
  • Proactive in seeking input, sharing insights, enabling others, and taking on strategic or hands-on work as needed.
