To support the rapidly expanding breadth of our Literacy portfolio, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented K–12 Literacy Product Manager, State Submissions to plan and execute on the product delivery requirements for state adoption submissions and go-to-market activities for McGraw Hill Literacy products. This individual contributor role is critical to positioning our products for success in rigorous K–12 Literacy adoption review processes, including the upcoming state of California follow-up adoption. The Product Manager, State Submissions works in direct partnership with and reports to the Vice President of Product Management, Literacy, providing strategic support on submission initiatives while collaborating with the Bids & Contracts team, Marketing, Sales, Academic Design, Instructional Design, Production, and Engineering. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced environments and ensures the product submissions and related activities are delivered with excellence. This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Communications, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in project coordination, product submissions, or related roles; experience in publishing, edtech, or state adoption processes preferred.
  • Direct experience with or strong knowledge of state adoption review process strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, Microsoft Office).
  • Passion for K–12 education and a commitment to supporting teachers and students.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting sales and marketing activities is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with K-5, 6-12, and Dual Literacy Product Managers and incorporate the schedules of each program with state-issued deadlines to ensure timely submissions.
  • Manage the creation of submission materials, including print and digital product deliverables and the official submission binders that contain program descriptions, standards correlations, and criteria maps.
  • Serve as liaison to the Content Acceleration team, prioritizing projects to execute on submission requirements (e.g., standards and criteria maps).
  • Support reviewer materials and organize resources needed to document citations, such as standards and criteria maps and reviewer walkthroughs of the product.
  • Coordinate all parties responsible for submission package deliverables (binders, print product, digital components, logins).
  • Partner with Production Shared Services, Manufacturing, the Copy Center, the Warehouse, and Bids & Contracts to ensure timely delivery of reviewer materials.
  • Support quality assurance (QA) of all submission materials to ensure accuracy and compliance with state adoption requirements.
  • Serve as communication manager during reviewer training and deliberations, documenting questions and comments, soliciting responses from internal teams (e.g., Academic Design), and tracking revisions after submission. Streamline communication and follow-up between the Product team and Cross-Functional partners.
  • Track review outcomes and feedback, synthesizing insights to inform future submissions and product strategy.
  • Provide regular updates on submission status, risks, and key milestones.
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to ensure product submissions directly support adoption and go-to-market strategies.
  • Assist in developing sales enablement tools, training materials, and collateral specific to the adoption cycle.
  • Coordinate with Marketing on customer-facing events, presentations, and webinars tied to product launches.
  • Gather and share state-specific product usage and analytics to strengthen sales positioning and outreach.
  • Maintain organized systems for submission documents, records, and communications.
  • Track budgets, timelines, and deliverables related to all submissions and launches, beginning with CO and CA.
  • Support process improvements that increase efficiency and consistency in submissions and launch workflows.
