About The Position

Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. Claude is now proficient in security tasks, including finding and fixing vulnerabilities, triaging alerts, and reasoning about attacker movement within systems. Many security platforms are built on Claude, and the company launched its first security product, Claude Security, this year. This role will lead the cybersecurity product at Anthropic, involving strategy setting, product development decisions, partnerships, product shipping, and representing Anthropic externally to CISOs, security vendors, and researchers. The position involves both creating new products from scratch (0 to 1) and scaling existing successful ones, as security is integral to nearly every team within the company.

Requirements

Meaningful experience in security, such as building security products, managing a security team, or hands-on work in application security, detection and response, vulnerability research, or offensive security.
Experience building products or businesses from scratch and successfully bringing them to paying customers.
Ability to design products for future AI capabilities rather than current limitations, treating what the model cannot do yet as a research target with a defined reliability bar, and knowing what to ship in the interim.
Strong product judgment and sufficient technical depth to evaluate security findings.
Willingness to perform less glamorous but necessary tasks.
Effective communication skills with CISOs, researchers, and executives.

Nice To Haves

12+ years of experience building and shipping products, particularly in the security domain.
Fluency with AI products, including evaluations and understanding model behavior as part of the product surface.
Technical background or experience working closely with infrastructure/platform teams.
Strong technical judgment with the ability to delve deep into security and infrastructure topics.
Structured thinking and the capability to translate complex compliance requirements into shippable features.

Responsibilities

Set Anthropic's cybersecurity product portfolio strategy and be accountable for the results.
Ship security products, including vulnerability discovery and remediation in Claude Code, with a broader set of capabilities planned for the future.
Represent Anthropic on security externally, engaging with CISOs, vendors, researchers, governments, and the press.
Partner with research to identify model shortcomings in security tasks and develop plans for improvement.
Collaborate with safeguards and policy teams on model access for Cybersecurity.
Maintain cross-functional communication and coordination across research, engineering, sales, safeguards, policy, legal, and communications teams.
