Product Management Director

SalesforceSan Francisco, CA
$197,300 - $344,700

About The Position

The Hyperforce Trust Platform product management team is responsible for the strategy and delivery of platform capabilities and services that enable security, availability, scale, and compliance for Salesforce products. Our mission is to protect customer data at scale and identify opportunities to maintain and exceed customer trust — working closely with developers, security engineers, and business unit leaders to build security and infrastructure platforms. We are looking for a Product Management leader to join the team and focus on future-proofing cryptography across Salesforce — including post-quantum readiness, encryption, and key management system evolution and modernization across Hyperforce. You will drive measurable outcomes including cryptographic agility (the ability to rotate algorithms and keys at scale), compliance audit readiness, and developer velocity (reducing time to implement secure cryptography patterns). The ideal candidate has a proven track record responding to complex, ambiguous market requirements with a focus on platform excellence in security and cloud-based platform services. They know how to put the customer and user at the center of their work, translating business and user requests into requirements and solutions. They are data-driven, ensuring we are strategically working toward the right outcomes, and have a strong bias for action. Strong communication skills, customer empathy, and the ability to execute in a matrix environment will ensure success in an area that is a key company priority.

Requirements

  • Shipped cryptographic platform services (Key Management Systems (KMS), HSMs, encryption APIs) consumed by 100+ engineering teams
  • Navigated Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) / FedRAMP cryptographic audits through remediation and certification
  • Led cross-cloud platform initiatives requiring consensus across infrastructure, security, and compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to translate regulatory requirements (NIST standards, industry mandates) into actionable engineering roadmaps
  • Strong matrix leadership — building consensus across cloud infrastructure, application teams, security, legal, and compliance stakeholders
  • Excellent executive communication — able to distill cryptographic complexity into business impact for non-technical audiences
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Product Security, or a related field

Nice To Haves

  • Led post-quantum cryptography (PQC) migration planning or contributed to NIST PQC standardization efforts
  • Built cryptographic services at hyperscaler scale (e.g., equivalents to Amazon Web Services (AWS) KMS, Azure Key Vault, Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Cloud KMS)
  • Background in cryptographic agility — designing systems that can swap algorithms and keys without service disruption
  • Led Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-3 or Common Criteria certification from scoping through Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) approval, or contributed to NIST PQC standardization or early-adopter migration planning
  • Proven understanding of cloud infrastructure platforms including the major hyperscalers (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Azure)

Responsibilities

  • Set strategic vision with executive management and the roadmaps needed to get there.
  • Partner with application teams consuming cryptography Application Programming Interfaces (APIs), compliance and legal stakeholders navigating regulatory requirements (FedRAMP, GDPR, PCI), and cloud infrastructure teams ensuring platform-level cryptographic primitives scale.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations peers to deliver both strategic and tactical plans and objectives.
  • Operate at platform altitude — defining service contracts, owning multi-quarter roadmaps, and unblocking cross-cloud execution — while staying close enough to technical tradeoffs (algorithm performance, key rotation windows, Hardware Security Module (HSM) throughput) to influence direction.
  • Own the delivery of platform products and services from planning through delivery and iteration, with strong product sense and customer focus. For example, when the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) mandates algorithm deprecation, you own the migration playbook — identifying affected services, defining rollout windows, and shipping tooling that lets 500+ teams migrate without outages.
