About The Position

The Leader, Interior and Exterior Doors is responsible for the commercial success of the interior and exterior wholesale product portfolio, overseeing a team responsible for the strategic direction, new product development, and product lifecycle management of interior and exterior doors. This role ensures the success of the products within its portfolio by enabling the product management teams to succeed. He or she provides coaching and direction for the team and ensures they can operate efficiently and effectively by utilizing and complying with the organization’s processes for product management. This role is responsible for profit and loss (P&L) and budget for the product portfolio within his or her purview.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product management experience in progressively more challenging roles
  • Formal experience managing direct reports
  • Formal experience managing a budget
  • Previous experience in product development
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Possess understanding of frameworks needed to manage a product line across all stages of the product life cycle.
  • Ability to manage 1-3 people
  • Flexible and able to deal with ambiguity
  • Able to think strategically while also enjoying tactical execution of programs
  • Analytical and creative problem solver
  • Strong on planning and attention to detail
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Candidate must possess strong skills in written and oral communication with all levels of internal management and outside stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Establish the vision and strategy for the product portfolio for interior and exterior, including product lifecycle management, and defining 3–5-year product roads.
  • Oversee and provide input into the process for creating, documenting and communicating product roadmaps.
  • Identify market opportunities and ensure products meet customer needs and competitive positioning.
  • Encourage market-back innovation and provide guidance and oversight for market and customer research to gather insight and understand user personas and needs.
  • Oversee the gathering of competitive intelligence and perform competitive analysis.
  • Ensure that product managers are highly effective in the product management function, as well as in new product development. Clearly documenting product requirements, supporting commercialization, and building business cases for new product development.
  • Coordinate with product development management on the product development process and technical resource allocation.
  • Oversee activities to ensure that new offerings include the desired capabilities and launch on time and within budget.
  • Ensure that product managers provide support to sales (e.g. make prospect/customer calls, provide sales enablement content, contribute to internal and external social communities/blogs/portals) and directly participate in sales support as requested.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams (e.g. product marketing, integrated marketing, engineering, sales enablement, channel marketing, pricing, operations, etc.) to drive meaningful impact.
  • Ensure that product managers follow a consistent approach to monitor product adoption and use and collect customer feedback.
  • Oversee and enforce a consistent, objective process to prioritize and select product enhancements.
  • Initiate or manage relevant partnerships with upstream partners and customer development partners as needed.
  • Assist in managing and resolving customer escalations as needed.
