About The Position

Responsible for leading the Subaru marketing strategy for launching new vehicles and vehicle technologies and supporting current vehicles as well, to ensure competitive advantage. Utilize data analysis and key learnings to ensure optimum model-level performance. Develops and communicates product marketing strategy across Subaru of America (SOA) departments and analyzes results and metrics to optimize future plans.

Requirements

  • Strategic marketing experience. Ability to nimbly work in both highly-detailed spaces and undefined spaces. Ability to work on complex situations and projects and to turn it into marketing strategy and plans.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to transfer analysis into a go-to-market strategy as well as interpret and analyze large amounts of data.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and Ability to efficiently influence, across cultures, departments, marketing teams, and agencies.
  • Strong understanding of and interest in the automotive industry and products.
  • Excellent project management, time management, organization, and coordination skills.
  • Effective, demonstrated track record of leading a team, 3 specialists
  • Ability to translate technical details into consumer-facing language.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly advanced skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent follow-up skills to make sure projects are on-track and managed to completion.
  • Negotiation skills and contract management experience.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and handle a large workload.
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 8 to 10 years of relevant experience required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain and enroll for approval by internal risk management to operate company vehicles. Ability to drive manual transmission vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Launch of New Vehicle and Vehicle Technologies: Plans, leads, and coordinates Subaru of America’s (SOA’s) marketing efforts for new vehicles and vehicle technologies. Develops the new vehicle go-to-market strategy and coordinates with the Marketing agency.
  • Oversees implementation of go-to-market strategy by multiple SOA teams within and outside of Marketing (including partnering with Sales and Regions/Zones). Communicates real-time launch reporting and key learnings. Maintains and oversees the execution of products and technology marketing strategy for ongoing competitive advantage.
  • Manages inter-departmental coordination to develop product launch plans and ensure integration of marketing communications across multiple functions. Partners extensively with other teams and departments including Product Management, Sales, Corporate Communications, Advertising, Digital Marketing, Media, the executive team, and Subaru Corporation (SBR). Influences and leads efforts, including schedules, of multiple groups to ensure that product launch marketing is executed as designed. Broadly shares the key learnings across the organization for continuous improvements to product marketing strategy.
  • Conducts strategic research alongside the agency and analyses before product launch to determine product positioning, target customer profiles, threats and opportunities, and messaging to achieve marketing and sales objectives.
  • Manages the implementation and maintenance of category strategy, where appropriate.
  • Manages the naming committee process including strategy and positioning inputs for new vehicle and technology naming; naming committee consists of Product Management and executive team, legal team and SBR.
  • Collects and analyzes launch results and metrics to optimize future launches. Shares learnings and metrics with the broader team for future optimization. (post reveal learnings)
  • Brand and Model-Level Awards: Develops and oversees marketing strategy for brand- and model-level awards from entities such as the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), Kelley Blue Book (KBB), MotorTrend, Car and Driver, and Consumer Reports. Maintains responsibility for maximizing the impact of awards earned by Subaru and its products via our marketing channels.
  • Manages and negotiates the purchase of brand and model level awards, accolades, and licensing from the award companies and publications. Partners with Legal department to ensure contractual compliance. Oversees the site that hosts the awards and disclaimers (Digify).
  • Collects and analyzes results of brand- and model-level awards marketing from multiple sources. Synthesizes data and shares the key learnings of awards and accolades across internal partners within SOA for continuous improvements to our marketing strategy and application for future launches.
  • Creates and publishes the Brand and Carline messaging guide for SOA. Ensures its confidentiality and its use and consistency of messaging across the organization.
