About The Position

We are looking for a talented JTC Test Engineer to join our team in Jamestown, NY. In this role, you will plan, coordinate, and execute engine and vehicle component testing programs that drive heavy-duty product development and validation. You will own testing end to end — from test planning and hardware procurement through test article build, execution, data analysis, and post-test closure — while ensuring every phase meets established engineering procedures, standards, and safety requirements. Success in this role calls for a strong grounding in diesel engine performance fundamentals and the confidence to troubleshoot complex issues spanning engines, test systems, instrumentation, controls, and facility infrastructure. Working alongside engineering teams, technical specialists, and test operations personnel, you will lead investigations, diagnose root causes, and implement corrective actions that keep testing safe, efficient, and on schedule. Familiarity with Cyflex, Calterm, and data acquisition systems will allow you to validate data quality quickly and deliver CTRs, teardown reviews, and technical recommendations that engineering can act on. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: Develop and execute test plans that directly support heavy-duty product development and validation program milestones. Coordinate hardware procurement, instrumentation requirements, and test article builds to keep scheduled testing on track. Ensure all testing is conducted in accordance with established engineering procedures, standards, and safety requirements. Monitor test progress and validate data quality, resolving technical issues before they compromise results or schedule. Analyze test data and deliver CTRs, summaries, and technical recommendations that inform product decisions. Lead and document post-test activities, including teardown inspections and review meetings. Troubleshoot and repair issues across engine systems, test cell equipment, instrumentation, controls, and facility systems to minimize downtime. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to advance validation outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • A working knowledge of diesel engine performance fundamentals and engine systems, applied to real test outcomes.
  • Hands-on experience with engine testing, instrumentation, controls, data acquisition systems, and test cell operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical judgment, with the ability to isolate root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced testing environment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication that keeps stakeholders current on status, risks, and results.
  • Demonstrated aptitude is required.
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is also preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Cyflex and Calterm experience preferred.
  • College, university, or equivalent Associate's degree or certification in an appropriate STEM field is preferred.
  • Equivalent Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline area may be required for select roles.
  • Relevant experience working in a laboratory/test cell environment as a non-exempt employee, temporary student employee (intern, co-op) or an early career professional in a relevant operations or technical discipline area.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, and execute test plans supporting heavy-duty product development and validation programs.
  • Coordinate hardware procurement, instrumentation requirements, and test article builds to support scheduled testing activities.
  • Ensure all testing is conducted in accordance with established engineering procedures, standards, and safety requirements.
  • Monitor test progress, validate data quality, and resolve technical issues that may impact results or schedule.
  • Analyze test data and prepare CTRs, summaries, and technical recommendations.
  • Lead and document post-test activities, including teardown inspections and review meetings.
  • Investigate, troubleshoot, and repair issues related to engine systems, test cell equipment, instrumentation, controls, and facility systems.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support product development, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate test documentation and communicate project status, risks, and results to stakeholders.
