About The Position

This role is responsible for processing quote requests for new and RPO equipment, preparing and submitting detailed quotes to Account Managers and Customers by bid due dates, and maintaining detailed notes and documentation during the quoting process. The Product Estimator will work with the management team to determine gross profit margins, compile accurate pricing, and consult with vendors/manufacturers to achieve the best pricing on parts, equipment, and logistics. This position also handles change order requests, interprets customer specifications, participates in pre-bid meetings, and prepares bid tabulation reports for Municipal/Co-Op Bids. The Estimator will determine delivery dates based on production and delivery schedules, collaborate with engineering to ensure designs are safe, legal, and operationally effective, and work with various teams to overcome design challenges. Responsibilities include reviewing stock chassis, body, and aerial quotes, recommending spec changes to management, reviewing and approving customer-supplied chassis specs, and maintaining stock quotes and pricing. The role also involves maintaining positive vendor/manufacturer relationships, providing industry expertise to other groups, and assisting the New Equipment Coordinator with order accuracy. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3-4 years of experience in technical spec writing/quoting and/or project management
  • Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university or related equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process all quote requests for New and RPO equipment.
  • Prepare and submit detailed quotes to Account Managers and Customers on or before bid due dates.
  • Maintain detailed notes and documentation during to quoting process for reference.
  • Work with the management team to determine gross profit margins on all quotes.
  • Compile accurate pricing for all quotes to create a final sale price.
  • Consult with all vendors/manufacturers to achieve the best pricing possible on all parts, equipment and logistics.
  • Process all change order requests directed by the account manager.
  • Accurately interpret customer specifications/bids to prepare quotes accurately.
  • Actively participate in all pre-bid meetings.
  • Prepares reports of bid tabulations for Municipal/Co-Op Bids.
  • Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of production and delivery schedules.
  • Collaborates with engineering groups to ensure the design of the completed quoted product is within safe and legal guidelines and all dimensions are accurate for operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with the Account Manager, manufacturer, engineering and customer to overcome design challenges discovered during the quoting process.
  • Review stock chassis, body and aerial quotes for stock orders.
  • Recommend spec changes to management to stay current with industry trends.
  • Review “customer supplied” chassis specs for approval.
  • Maintain all stock quotes and pricing for all stock equipment on order.
  • Maintain positive relationships with all vendor/manufacturer partners to stay current on updated product offerings and pricing.
  • Assist other operating groups with industry expertise when needed.
  • Provide accurate specifications to order from for all vendors/manufacturers to the New Equipment Coordinator.
  • Assist in the order process when needed to ensure order accuracy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
