About The Position

We are looking for a talented Product Engineering Specialist to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Troy, MI.

Requirements

  • Synthesize input from technical managers, project leaders, manufacturing engineers, and supplier partners into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Apply academic foundations and hands-on experience to make sound day-to-day technical, analytical, and coordination decisions.
  • Define and coordinate analysis, testing, and work instructions.
  • Apply and improve ESW, iDFMEA, FIRG, and structured problem-solving tools.
  • Provide independent technical leadership for projects or complex components/systems.
  • Execute and mature engineering processes.
  • Coordinate technicians and student employees.
  • Transfer knowledge to less-experienced engineers.
  • Guide project teams.
  • Improve functional discipline processes at the site level.
  • Develop critical competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Drive high-quality product decisions by synthesizing input from technical managers, project leaders, manufacturing engineers, and supplier partners into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Advance projects efficiently without compromising quality by applying academic foundations and hands-on experience to make sound day-to-day technical, analytical, and coordination decisions.
  • Enable cross-discipline execution by defining and coordinating analysis, testing, and work instructions that ensure aligned progress across engineering and manufacturing functions.
  • Strengthen decision-making rigor through effective application and continuous improvement of ESW, iDFMEA, FIRG, and structured problem-solving tools such as 7-step problem solving and design review checklists.
  • Provide independent technical leadership by owning smaller business-impact projects or complex components/systems with ambiguity and full accountability to the project team.
  • Execute and mature engineering processes by independently applying established and emerging work systems while building deeper product and technology expertise.
  • Build team capability and capacity by coordinating technicians and student employees, and transferring knowledge to less-experienced engineers through direct or indirect leadership.
  • Influence technical direction as a recognized specialist by guiding project teams, improving functional discipline processes at the site level, and continually developing critical competencies.
