Internship: Product Engineering
About The Position
This Product Engineering Internship offers the opportunity to gain enriching experiences and work alongside experienced engineers. Over twelve weeks, interns will be based at the South Milwaukee, WI site and will gain a firm grasp of core engineering competencies and a holistic view of technology-driven solutions. The role involves assisting the Maintenance of Line (MoL) Engineering team in providing sustaining engineering support for overhead and underground medium voltage reclosers, fault interrupters, and switches. Interns will perform engineering analysis, create detailed designs, execute verification tests, and contribute to projects focused on product cost savings, product improvement, and engineering process improvement. Eaton's engineering teams are dedicated to designing products and services that are more efficient, reliable, safe, and sustainable. With multiple facilities and a significant employee presence in Wisconsin, Eaton provides access to state-of-the-art laboratories and manufacturing capabilities.
Requirements
- Actively enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering at an accredited institution with a graduation date no earlier than December 2027.
- Minimum GPA of 2.8 or above.

Nice To Haves
- Prior internship or co-op experience
- Minimum GPA of 3.2 or above.
- Experience in 3D modeling.
- Hands-on experience building prototypes or other equipment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, sustain, and improve product design and product definition data (bills of materials, 3D models, drawings, and specifications).
- Assist in tasks associated with the introduction of new products and changes to existing products.
- Support production and manufacturing engineering with resolution of production and testing issues.
- Learn and apply methods for Design for Manufacture/ Assembly (DFM/DFA).
- Learn and apply engineering analysis and simulation tools (CAD, FEA, statistical software, etc.).
- Sets aggressive goals, measures performance, and strives to go beyond what is expected.
