About The Position

Valthos is an applied biological intelligence company that builds and deploys software and biological AI systems to safeguard humanity. The company is seeking a full-stack engineer to join their team and lead the design and development of a new platform for biodefense, allowing Valthos to bring frontier methods to end users. In this role, the engineer will design and develop the user-facing layer of their operating system for biodefense, building intuitive, powerful interfaces that surface anomalies and derive insights from biological data. This position requires a product-minded engineer who can translate complex workflows into elegant user experiences while also being able to architect the full-stack systems that power them. The team consists of mission-driven software engineers from Palantir and applied biological ML engineers from MIT's Broad Institute and DeepMind.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of UX principles, design systems, and creating intuitive user experiences for technical products
• Experience with data visualization libraries and techniques for presenting complex information clearly
• Demonstrated ability to own features end-to-end from design through deployment
• Ability to iterate quickly in fast feedback loops, and spin up prototypes to test hypotheses

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with React, Typescript, Tailwind, and Next.js, or similar languages and frameworks
• Experience visualizing technically complex topics or data (e.g. software for biology, hardware, large-scale unstructured data, etc.)
• Contributions to open-source projects or portfolio of personal fullstack projects, ideally with users
