About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. As a Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, quality & regulatory to lead management of change projects (CMPs) such as raw material and manufacturing qualifications to support and grow the business. Verify and document product specifications, test methods and control plans for new and existing products. Conduct product claims testing and document test results via claim substantiation process in PLM. Determine root cause of product quality issues and implement corrective actions. Interact closely with key internal and external manufacturers and suppliers to deliver high-quality retail products. Provide technical input to Business team and technical reports on key activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited institution
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
  • All US-based 3M full time employees will need to sign an employee agreement as a condition of employment with 3M. This agreement lays out key terms on using 3M Confidential Information and Trade Secrets. It also has provisions discussing conflicts of interest and how inventions are assigned.
  • Employees that are Job Grade 7 or equivalent and above may also have obligations to not compete against 3M or solicit its employees or customers, both during their employment, and for a period after they leave 3M.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Materials Science based curriculum
  • Two (2) years of experience in a private, public, healthcare, academic, government or military environment in one or more of the following areas: new product introduction, project engineering, product engineering, product development, and/or research laboratory supporting medical devices or chemistry-based product lines.
  • Experience with regulated products (e.g., FDA), healthcare-related products, and/or other medical devices
  • Strong communication, organizational, project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Skills include: Product and process understanding (e.g., coating & slitting), scale-up/manufacturing experience, and using appropriate tools (e.g., Minitab, statistics)

Responsibilities
